Bessent Says Health-Care Announcement Coming This Week

Source: msn/Bloomberg

8h

(Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Trump administration is working on bringing down US health-care costs and an announcement to address the issue is planned for this week.

“We believe health care’s going to come down,” Bessent said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press in response to a question about Vice President JD Vance asking Americans for “a little bit of patience” as the White House works out a plan to address the cost of living.

“We will see an announcement this coming week on that,” he said.

Trump said last week he hopes to secure a plan by Jan. 30 to address an impending surge in health insurance premiums caused by subsidies that expire at end-2025. Democrats secured victories in gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey this month after campaigning on affordability, adding pressure on the White House ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Something extremely complex, impossible to put into place followed closely by lame and ineffective. But it will be beautiful and tremendous and every other stupid adjective that pours out of the Apricot Appeaser’s mouth.

It is no longer considered a professional degree.

They probably think the pay will go down if they do this. That's how they will be lowering the cost of healthcare. One salary at a time.

RN’s are going to stand for that, they have another thing coming.

Canada is very happy to take medical care professionals. They will welcome them with open arms.

And oversees to other countries as well.

We thought we had a resource crisis in healthcare before? You ain't seen nothing yet!

OH HELL, NO.

They've had over ten years to come up with an idea, an alternative to the ACA.

F them.

Trump does not understand the complexities of healthcare, especially cancer care.

Trump has cancelled cancer research.

I was first diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in 1990.
It returned in 2002 and 2019 as a more aggressive lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

This is something he does not consider.
The aggressiveness of cancer and prior treatments sometimes do not work.

When my returned in 2019, I went through 4 different treatments over 2 years; all failed.
We in fact tried a treatment that worked in 2002; but in 2019, it failed.

I was able to achieve complete remission in 2022 due to 3 factors:
Trump's attempted repeal of ACA failed. Although, I get my insurance through my employer; it protects me against lifetime limits.
A new treatment was approved by FDA in 2020; I started treatment in 2021.
My healthcare provider denied payment of the new drug but was successfully appealed.

#1) Do they even have a CLUE that the Medicare Enrollment period ends Dec 7th.
#2) Are they aware that the ACA enrollment ends about a week or so later?
#3) Securing a 2026 plan by Jan 30th of 2026 is laughable both in logistics and in light of the deadlines. Does that mean we all have to reassess the plans? Or if we signed up for an expensive plan that we are stuck with it?

No details, no acknowledgment of the actual workings of the current system makes me very hesitant to feel hopeful.

There will be nothing good in it!

I'm so freaking relieved that our son finally got a job that included insurance - so he's not reliant on trumps' ACA anymore. He will be able to get his physical problems fixed, which is so badly needed!
