Trump ally says grand jury empaneled in Florida to investigate a sweeping conspiracy against Trump

A key Trump ally says a federal grand jury has been empaneled in Florida that will begin meeting in January to investigate what he calls a decade-long conspiracy against President Donald Trump.
In a series of interviews with conservative podcasters over the last week, conservative attorney Mike Davis -- a close friend and informal adviser to Attorney General Pam Bondi and other top Trump administration officials -- has claimed that the grand jury will consider whether to bring criminal charges against top Democratic figures that Davis claims have colluded over the last decade to impede Trump, beginning with the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election through the criminal cases against the president.
"I've been publicly calling for this for three years. I'm going to make damn sure that these lawfare Democrats go to prison during the four years of President Trump's second term," Davis told conservative commentator Benny Johnson on Friday.
While Davis does not hold a government position, court documents confirm that a federal judge last month ordered a grand jury to be empaneled in Fort Pierce, Florida, beginning in January at the request of the Trump administration. A representative of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the purpose of the grand jury.

Although there are several judges in Ft. Pierce, the courthouse there is the home of Loose Cannon.

(37,022 posts)AKA psychopath/sociopath might believe that a political opponent might be trying to impede or block them. Maybe even sometimes for good reason. Its part of a campaign to spread the truth about an opponents unfitness to serve.
So, yes, all of these allegations may be true. Including the most glaring fact that these people and actually no one has an obligation to be beholden to Trump.
In the end, though. This is only yet another way of stating that every accusation is a confession. Example #13248906543-345278A.

(21,081 posts)We're getting awfully close to something like "Fugitive Slave Act 2.0", i.e., some states ignoring and actively resisting federal mandates. Even the work of grand juries since they're seemingly tainted by the state in which they where empaneled.
And not just around the edges with sanctuary cities and states refusing to cooperate with immigration enforcement. Next step will be state government actively resisting federal enforcement by federal officials in their respective states. We're beginning to see whispers of just that. Simply put, some of us aren't going to passively put up with this shit. The question is, how far do we have to be pushed before that becomes a reality. That's unlawful you say? Well tell me what IS lawful in the current paradigm, with a regime that actively flaunts rule of law every hour.
Perhaps that was the point all along. It's no secret Putin blames us for the breakup of his beloved Soviet empire. He'd love to see the same happen to the US.

(537 posts)The Mueller Report said there was no proof that Trump conspired with Russia but that Russia did interfere with the 2016 election, a claim which always made Trump angry even though Trump had to pardon people who lied to the FBI during the investigation. The Mueller Report did state that there were more than 100 contacts between Russian operatives and people in the Trump campaign, but when the FBI interviewed those Trump campaign people and asked them what was discussed at those meetings, they all said, "I don't remember." Yes, let's really investigate that.

(2 posts)Here we go again another grand jury, another promise to punish the other side. Justice isnt supposed to be payback. When the law becomes a weapon for revenge, democracy starts to bleed.
Jesus stood before corrupt judges, too. He didnt answer hate with hate He answered with truth. Maybe thats what this nation needs now: less fury, more honesty.

Lord, have mercy on a country where power has forgotten humility. Heal the hearts of those who use justice to harm. Protect the innocent, guide the honest, and remind every leader that vengeance belongs to You alone. Let truth rise above politics, and mercy reign where pride once ruled. Amen.

(59 posts)Are MAGA revenge lawyer and hateful prick, Mike Davis, and Pam Bondi too stupid to realize that if this grand jury delivers indictments and a trial ensues, there will be discovery by the defendants' legal teams? Trump would risk having all of his criminal conduct and dirty laundry coming out in court testimony. This vindictive move may well boomerang back on them.
Jack Smith has already demanded to testify before Congress in public and made it clear that he knows stuff about Trump that hasn't been made public yet. The fascist cabal is playing with fire if they continue to push these revenge prosecutions.
