President Donald Trumps White House is already the second most-blocked account on Bluesky, just days after joining the platform. The only account ahead of it on the block list? It belongs to Vice President JD Vance.
The White House joined Bluesky on Friday evening, and less than 48 hours later, it has been blocked by more than 92,000 users, according to VQV, an app that tracks Bluesky stats. Vance has racked up 166,000 blocks since joining the platform in June.
That means at this rate, the White House will leapfrog the vice president for the infamous, or venerable, depending on who you ask, position of being the most-blocked account on Bluesky.
The platform has become a go-to social media safe space for liberals who did not want to use X, the platform owned by Elon Musk, following the 2024 election. Bluesky was dubbed Blue Heaven by some members of The Resistance to Donald Trump, and many journalists and media pundits migrated over to the app and ditched X.

(129 posts)It robs the trolls and griefers of all oxygen. And since you can subscribe to curated blocklists, you don't have to suffer them even once. It's a much less vexing social media experience compared to the dead bird.

(6,855 posts)and yes, I'm very much averse to Social Media for the most part... it blocks YOU from having to see anything you don't want or front people you want to avoid.
BUT does this block YOU from THEM? IOW, I see the WH joining Bluesky not for any good reasons, but in order to spy on us, get our information more easily, and use that to target us.
I liked the Mastodon lack of centralization. BlueSky is centralized which makes it easier to search, etc... but it also adds an element of danger, IMO. Besides the fact, it's corporate built and sponsored.
