Trump labels Colombia president 'illegal drug leader,' cuts subsidies

Source: The Hill

President Trump on Sunday ripped Colombian President Gustavo Petro, saying he “is an illegal drug leader strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs, in big and small fields, all over Columbia” while cutting subsidies to the nation.

“It has become the biggest business in Columbia, by far, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large scale payments and subsidies from the USA that are nothing more than a long term rip off of America. AS OF TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLUMBIA,” Trump added in a post on Truth Social.

“The purpose of this drug production is the sale of massive amounts of product into the United States, causing death, destruction, and havoc,” the president said. R“Petro, a low rated and very unpopular leader, with a fresh mouth toward America, better close up these killing fields immediately, or the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely

The president’s post came after Petro on Saturday accused the U.S. of “murder” after a September strike against what Trump labeled “confirmed narcoterrorists.”

In what world is this acceptable? He is unhinged.

Since taking office on June 30, 2016, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has carried out a “war on drugs” that has led to the deaths of over 12,000 Filipinos to date, mostly urban poor. At least 2,555 of the killings have been attributed to the Philippine National Police. Duterte and other senior officials have instigated and incited the killings in a campaign that could amount to crimes against humanity.

Human Rights Watch research has found that police are falsifying evidence to justify the unlawful killings. Despite growing calls for an investigation, Duterte has vowed to continue the campaign.

Large-scale extrajudicial violence as a crime solution was a marker of Duterte’s 22-year tenure as mayor of Davao City and the cornerstone of his presidential campaign. On the eve of his May 9, 2016 election victory, Duterte told a crowd of more than 300,000: “If I make it to the presidential palace I will do just what I did as mayor. You drug pushers, holdup men, and do-nothings, you better get out because I'll kill you.”

Colombia has a diverse economy, between rubber, mining and agriculture. So of course Prez T is exagerating yet again to keep anything but his policy's failures and that he was a loyal coconspirator of a notorious child sex trafficer. We can assume he is guilty of the alligations.

In a social media post, Trump referred to Colombian President Gustavo Petro as "an illegal drug dealer" who is "low rated and very unpopular." He warned that Petro "better close up" drug operations "or the United States will close them up for him, and it won't be done nicely."
