'Sold my soul to the devil': Fox News staffers blast network in explosive court filing

A Smartmatic court filing revealed that a survey of employees done by Fox's human resources department found that the staff has a "resounding lack of confidence" in the company as a news organization. Among the problems employees had with the company were ethics, fair treatment, and their efforts to fact-check and report things fairly and accurately.
Smartmatic is highlighting the commentary as part of an ongoing lawsuit against the company, alleging that the network and news personalities defamed the company. The most notable comments come from pages 550-554, in which HR took commentary from some of those employees.
The racial rhetoric spewed on Air. Its everything but [Fair] and Balanced," another employee said, referring to the slogan the network used until it was retired in 2017. "I sometimes go home fighting back tears. This network made me question my morals. Have I sold my soul to the devil?"
I wish we would get out of Trumps pocket and realize people like Tucker [Carlson], Laura [Ingraham], [Sean] Hannity, [Mark] Levin, etc. are a total embarrassment, peddling BS and conspiracy theories. Many days I feel like I am part of the problem and FNC is contributing to hatred in this country," said one staffer.

They are more afraid from what they hear than they are compelled by their own known truth.

(7,384 posts)They are morally corrupt to participate. The fact that they publicly admit they have been lying for profit gives me hope that this whole ecosystem of lies will collapse.
Having it out in public is a very big first step. Thanks for posting.

(161,980 posts)and went back a few to page 541 where you had this as an example (from Smartmatic in the first (left) column where Faux responds to each assertion in the 2nd (right) column) -
1231. Fox Corp would have deemed information, such as Fox News employee comments about Fox News acting as a propaganda machine for the Republican partyor Fox News being in Trumps pocket, to be a significant risk if reported to the Board. (Ex.118 at 515:5-517:18).
Apparently the survey happened some time in 2020 and was compiled and reported to the management. Don't know if any of those who had those types of responses might have eventually left or what.
Just wild though!

(11,901 posts)Yes, and it was by design: Rush Limbaugh and Fox teamed up to drive an irreconcilable wedge into our politics, hoping to end up with the bigger half with the message that liberals aren't just wrong; they're evil and should be hated. Fox and Limbaugh and an army of clones created the information bubble that the MAGA cult lives in.

(41,799 posts)I remember in the early 90s I was taking webmaster certification courses. They were the first such courses to be offered in NJ and NY, too.
I became friends with a woman from Manhattan. My friend was named "Jennie." Right away I noticed how talented she was. Part of webmaster training means understanding graphics, because that's a big part of a web page/site. We were in Photoshop and Illustrator classes when I noticed her designs were very advanced--far moreso than anyone else's in class.
She often came to NJ for the weekend because at the time I opened my pool and we liked to hang around there. She told me she had put in an application at Fox. I remember the moment well because I gasped and was sputtering pool water in response. I asked why on earth would she want to work there? She seemed oblivious to my aversion to the place.
Of course, I've been on this board since close to the beginning, so I knew full well what they were about. To answer your question, it was obvious as hell back in the early 90s.
Jennie told me she did not get the job. I said of course you didn't. She wanted to know why I was so certain and I said because you're black!

Tomorrow I'm wearing the "I HATE FOX NEWS" t-shirt that a fellow activist gave me when I went to a protest when tRump went to the border in San Diego in 2019. Wasn't that nice of them?!. Dem activists are kind and smart and non-violent.
I wish I weren't an atheist since I'd love to see him go home to hell where his daddy is waiting for him.
