'No Kings' protests could draw historic turnout in pushback against Trump, organizers say

Source: USA Today

Updated Oct. 15, 2025, 10:44 a.m. ET

Though Oct. 18's "No Kings" protests share a name with its predecessor, organizers are expecting an unmatched flood of people for what they believe will be the largest single day of protest in modern American history.

"The anger level is way higher" than it was in June for the last protests of the same name, said Public Citizen copresident Lisa Gilbert, one of the organizers. "It's not just policies we don't like … but it's also actual chipping away at democracy, at foundational rights and prerogatives that we all expect. … People are saying 'I've never been moved to action before, but now I feel like I have to.'”

Things have changed in the past four months, organizers and activists told USA TODAY. The Trump administration has ramped up immigration enforcement, sent troops into several Democratic-controlled cities, made massive changes to American health care and eroded First Amendment rights, they say.

“If you're not scared, you're not paying attention. These folks are serious. They are actively trying to take away your constitutional right to peaceful protest, and that is how authoritarian regimes work," said Indivisible cofounder Ezra Levin, another of the organizers. "They fear more than anything one thing, which is the mass, peaceful, organized population pushing back against their unpopular designs on the system."

They’re doing all they can to reframe/rebrand/reposition the nation’s repudiation of their vile administration.
It is quite funny. They are obsessed. Bonkers. We own them. Rent free.

they'd realize with that many people coming out to pushback and protest *them* that everything they're saying right now as "branding" calling us "Democrats" and Hamas supporters... Hate filled Anti-Americans... Fascists... they'd realize how totally stupid they sound to THAT huge crowd they're so afraid of. There's a hell of a lot more of us than there are of them. And Stephen Miller's Nosferatu face is known countrywide.

trump wants walls. He wants walls to keep people out; he wants walls to keep US in. He figures there's nowhere for us to go. Little does he know HIS route and timing for escape is fast running out. He should have stayed in the Middle East. And Little Mikey Moses might want to get down on his knees and beg forgiveness from his god for his rage, hypocrisy, cruelty, and evilness. May there be nowhere in the world these people can run to escape what's coming for them. I don't care who delivers it to them... even if its just almighty God himself... tho, for trump I truly hope it's Hekate. Anyone who ever gets anything on trump to any measure is a Woman. May Hekate Triumvirate rain her disapproval down upon him and his. May he hear the hoot of her owl with her dogs nipping at his feet as he tries unsuccessfully to run from his fate. I think he made the right call with all his god and heaven talk. He knows if there is such a place, he's never getting any place close to it. Great Peacemaker, my butt! (LOL)

Everyone have a joyous, communal, Oct 18th wherever you are in the country. And, as you attend your rally, march in the streets, and protest, know every single one of us stand in solidarity with you at our rallies in each of our states, too. THIS sense of Community... THIS sense of belonging... of Oneness with each other... is something he's wanted all his life and has never had - not even from his parents. He's wanted it so bad he had to turn it into something evil to keep from admitting it to himself. A man who cannot love and cannot BE loved. He may have millions in currency and assets, but he'll never be richer than any one of us right here at this point in time. Remember the date. Remember the events. No matter how much or how little you can do, be proud. You'll be able to tell your grandkids how you came together with the rest of the country to save democracy for them against the big bad wolf... and all he could do was huff and puff and whine.

They are the most deranged, most evil people in D.C. I would love nothing better than to see them in prison, or, if not that, deported.
