Chris Christie Accuses Trump of Using Justice Department Like a Mob Boss: 'Executes Hits' on Political Enemies

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) accused President Donald Trump of using the Justice Department like a mafia crime boss would to execute hits against his political enemies.
Christie made the provocative allegation against Trump during a roundtable discussion led by George Stephanopoulos on ABCs This Week on Sunday. The indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) for mortgage fraud last week, Christie argued, only happened because Trumps Justice Department is crooked and following his orders to target his rivals.
We know why this was done: it was done because Donald Trump told the Justice Department to prosecute Letitia James. And when the professionals there wouldnt do it, he put somebody in who would just follow his instruction whose previous jobs was reviewing exhibits at the Smithsonian.
He continued: Heres the difference between Trump II and Trump I
this is no longer, the Department of Justice, is no longer the premier prosecuting office in America. What it is now is a capo regime who goes out and executes hits when directed by the Don to do so. Thats what it is.

At least Chris Christie is facing some reality.

(161,757 posts)so probably knows all the dirt about 45's dealings in NJ. That's why all the suck-up before the 1st term with hopes of being named AG. But 45 ditched him before it got that far, when he was replaced with Pencefly to lead the transition team back then.

I am sure Christie knows where the bodies are buried to some extent.
Trump knows Christie smart, powerful with a strong will.
Someone weak and not too smart like Bondi is a better match for Trump.

(161,757 posts)Some 20 years ago when PA first legalized gambling and had handed out casino licenses, there were 2 set aside for here in Philly and 45 put in a bid for one right smack in the middle of a neighborhood.
Thankfully that was rejected.
I remember in 1974 staying at what was then the Holiday Inn Atlantic City (which was right next to the famous Boardwalk Hall) -
Later, 45 bought it, rejiggered the buildings and constructed another tower, and called it "Trump Plaza".
He bankrupted that and I was happy to watch a live stream of its implosion!
When gambling first opened in Jersey in 1978, we drove down there just to go inside the first casino - Resorts International. That property had been mainly owned and run by Merv Griffin, was in an old building, with the entrance actually back off the boardwalk. But later, in comes 45 again to construct what would become the Taj Mahal just adjacent. The hotel was right across the boardwalk from (and connected to) Steel Pier.
And back about a decade ago after he bankrupted the Taj Mahal and sold it at a fire sale to criminal extraordinaire Carl Icahn, my sister and niece went down there for a weekend... and with a Groupon coupon, was able to get a luxury ocean front room for like $60 a night.
It's now a Hard Rock Hotel/Casino.
I know all about his casino fiascos but there were others involved outside of the Russian mob.

Trump IS a mob boss, but a cartoon version, where he disregards the concept of "flying under the radar" consistently.
You look at old documentary of guys like John Gotti in their "Social Clubs." They were always aware of the feds trying to plant "bugs" in their clubhouses. You see them walk outside, aware of any surveillance, turning their backs and reaching up to cover their mouths to ruin the efforts of "lip readers."
Trump is the 24/7 diapered toddler writing "DONNY ROCKS" on the White House walls in his own poo.
He's got a big mouth, constant attention is his crack pipe. So he'll fire off something to Bondi about going after his enemies, and it's coded, but it's really not coded at all.
One thing Trump has NEVER BEEN, and never WILL be, is a "sly fox." And the reason so many mob figures escaped a prison cell (or a bullet) for so long is that they managed to prevent the people looking to take them down from second guessing them (until they did).
Trump's CosPlaying "mob boss" while hiding behind Robert's "immunity" anointing.

(20,521 posts)Even when Tony and Carmella were locked in extreme mental warfare...when they went through their separation, when she helped herself to a brick of cash from his duck food locker...when SHE toyed with her OWN attempts at infidelity...yeah.
There was more integrity there, ultimately, than we'll ever see from Trump and his Slovenian trophy wife.
And Tony VICIOUSLY disciplined ANY who violated his underlying moral code. Ironic that he could do that while robbing the bank, but he did.

(76,262 posts)When Tony was shot, she buried the hatchet and rushed to his side.
And with her sheer will she brought him back to life.
Yes we would never see any of this with Trump and the Russia Ho.
Yes remember when Tony found out Christopher killed his fiancé Adriana's dog, Cosette?
Tony wanted to kill Christopher for that he was furious.
Miles Archer
(20,521 posts)Tony, the guy who bonded with those ducks, learning that an innocent little animal had died.
But the bigger offense was that Christopher went full-bore into addiction, which dramatically reduced his usefulness to Tony, and because of their family connection, Christopher's weakness, stupidity, and rapid downward spiral reflected poorly on Tony. In a "tightly run organization," things like that simply wouldn't happen, and they did.
Then there was the whole "Godfather Meets Saw" travesty. When Tony saw how he was depicted, his dispatching of Adrianna via Silvio, and his own final moments with Christopher, took on a personal "payback" tone.
But it was still wrapped around a moral core. One that defied logic at a time, but there were rules that could not be broken, and the whole issue with Trump is that in his view, rules are for chumps, or more specifically, they are there for everyone but him.
Irish_Dem
(76,262 posts)He was authentic and not a fake. And yes had an inner moral core of sorts.
He had a North Star he followed.
I am not sure if Tony was paying back, maybe yes, or taking care of business.
Like Michael Corleone.
Yes Trump and his crime syndicate have no inner core.
They will change their values in a heartbeat for the right price.
They value no one but themselves.

(1,674 posts)I haven't seen evidence that he ever ordered the murder of rivals in private business, but he is now very well into the murdering (literally) phase, with the random attacks on Venezuelan boats barely off the coast of Venezuela, 1000 miles from the US mainland. And there are, so far, at least 22 extra-judicial killings by ICE this year.
And then there is the question of how Epstein died. When are we going to see those files?

Howard Liebengood: A U.S. Capitol Police officer who died within a month of the attack.
Jeffrey Smith: A D.C. Police officer who also died within a month of the attack.
Gunther Hashida and Kyle deFreytag: Two additional D.C. police officers who died by suicide in the months after the riot.
According to suicide hotlines, there were LGBT suicides after the 2024 election.
Other suicides have been documented.
Yes we can assume that over the years some people ruined by Trump
have attempted suicide, or thought of it.

How about the fact that it's absolute truth, and we all know it and can see it happening!
