Former Vice President Kamala Harris said shes unsure whether Americans can trust the Department of Justice (DOJ) under President Trump.
I dont know if we can trust whats coming out of the Department of Justice right now, Harris told MSNBC on Sunday. And that pains me to say that as someone who spent the majority of my career as a prosecutor where the work of a prosecutor should be to do justice. In recent weeks, former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James have been indicted by federal grand juries in the Eastern District of Virginia.
Comey is charged with making a false statement to Congress and obstruction of a congressional proceeding, while James faces charges of bank fraud and false statements to a financial institution. Both have denied wrongdoing. Prior to the indictments, Erik Siebert, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, resigned amid pressure from the White House over his refusal to bring a case against Comey, James and other Trump foes.
The president then tapped Lindsey Halligan, a top White House aide, as the districts interim U.S. attorney. He also publicly called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute Comey, James and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Ca.) last month, an order that reportedly was meant to be a direct message. Harris said Sunday she believes Trump is on a vengeance campaign that is exposing the petty nature of who he is and his deep level of insecurity.

(14,534 posts)33,000 lies in his first 4 years.
They should have counted all the lies his administration told as well.
We have never witnessed anything this batshit and evil.

(14,534 posts)I think the majority of our party figured that out during his first presidency.
I don't trust anyone in this administration.
They have infested every nook and cranny that holds any power in this country.
They are convicted criminals, liars, con artists, white supremacists, Christian nationalists,
fascists, and all the dregs of society.
Trustworthy news is shrinking at an alarming rate.
Our media has sold out and cowed down voluntarily.
Truth is a precious commodity and it is vanishing.

So knowing that it is the corrupt 45 appointees who are the ones "pulling the strings" and "running the show", she doesn't want to throw the rest (notably the beleaguered civil servants, many of whom ARE Democrats), under the bus.
So she has to craft her words wisely.
I know that DU loves throwing Harris under that same bus out of frustration, but... think.

(40,698 posts)All she had to do is what you just did; delineate between leadership and rank-and-file. Or dodge the question entirely and blast Trump for directing indictments of enemies and firing prosecutors who dont play along.
Instead of writing a strong headline for herself she comes off as weak. Which is a persistent problem for her.

(161,753 posts)and since we own NO media (outside of Soros finally buying the large broadcast radio/podcast outlet Audacy, that one of his entities is in the process of revamping), then no matter how well we put it, they will spin it to the right and promote internecine squabbling among Democrats.
I did not watch the MSNBC interview that she was on to get the context (it was linked to in the OP article and is here - https://www.msnbc.com/the-weekend/watch/exclusive-kamala-harris-warns-the-rule-of-law-is-very-much-under-attack-249726021911) because I am wading through piles of Taylor Swift adulation in over 3 dozen news sites to find stuff that happened that should be put out there, plus stamping out RW trolls on MIRT. But I know that in certain cases, political figures often couch terms.

In other words, use exact wording: we can't trust the doj, the (formerly) s.c., the republican majority in congress, or the executive branch. We can't trust anyone who supports the administration and their abusive, totalitarian misrule.
