Trump appears to forget that Jan 6 happened on his watch as he blames Biden in late-night screed: 'What a SCAM!'

Donald Trump leaned into fiction on Saturday evening as he blamed Joe Biden for events that happened while Trump was still president and angrily insisted that the FBI was in on a conspiracy to make his followers look bad on January 6, 2021.
The presidents allies in Congress have often been dinged by the press for erroneously attacking the Biden administration for events that transpired in 2020 and the start of 2021, such as Sen. Jim Banks who just last week wrongly insisted that the 2020 U.S. Census was prepared by the Biden administration. Other Republicans, in their zeal to attack Democrats and support calls for a new census, have similarly forgotten who was president that year.
But now Trump himself is doing it. In a Truth Social post Saturday evening, he claimed in all-caps that the Biden FBI supposedly placed 274 agents into the crowd on January 6. What a SCAM - DO SOMETHING!!! President DJT, the post concluded.
Obviously, the Biden FBI did not exist on January 6, nor did it exist in any of the weeks or months leading up to the attack on the Capitol, when dozens of police officers were injured responding to a violent mob numbering in the thousands as rioters stormed barricades, shattered windows, defaced the hallways of the Capitol complex and battled with law enforcement around the grounds.

(59,576 posts)It continues: Biden was a mastermind organizing this vast conspiracy and accomplishing it secretly. All this but he was supposedly incompetent to be President.

(120 posts)Me too. When he was elected the first time, I said to myself, he's gonna' kill us all. And as he becomes even more demented, I can see him forcing some general to assist him in launching a nuclear strike triggering World War III. But there may not be that saving plot twist as in The Dead Zone when the Christopher Walken character has the psychic view of the Presidential candidate holding up a child to shield himself from his failed assassination attempt. He touches his hand before he dies having had this vision of that cowardly act ending his political career. But Trump has shown us that he would indeed use a child as a shield and be proud of it. It has been said that he wanted to use "nukes" to move the path of a hurricane or to drop one on Iran's nuclear facility if the bunker buster didn't do the job. And as his delusional world begins to crumble, it seem as though he would seek to launch some on the people who reject him and destroy the entire country out of spite.

(244,883 posts)He has no clue what's in the Constitution since he doesn't read, nor does he care. He's running what was the most influential country in the world like it's one of his personal businesses, cheating and conniving, and we know what happened with his businesses, 6 bankruptcies, and the idiotic way he's throwing money around it's a distinct possibility that we'll end up with the same result.
Not to mention, he hasn't kept one campaign promise, like making groceries more affordable, which was a reason that people voted for him. Instead, he has these looney ideas, like his tariffs, which he doesn't understand, but since he considers himself the CEO, he's unwilling to listen to anyone. And it doesn't help that he's surrounded himself with sycophants and the Republicans in Congress are afraid to go against him since they know his penchant for revenge.
I don't know how this governmental debacle is going to turn out, but it's only been a few months into a long four years, he's turned our historical allies into enemies and is dedicated to following an authoritarian playbook that he lied about, saying he'd never heard of it - and no one trusts us anymore which we should have been prepared for since he lies every time he speaks.
Then there's the 34 felonies and his attempt to overthrow the government when he lost in 2020. Wasn't that enough evidence that he was the last person who should be given a second chance??

(331 posts)I think he can't wait to nuke somewhere. That's why deploying US troops to Gaza is scary to me. Will their presence trigger Hamas? Then what will our Department of WAR do? If the Epstein files are getting closer to being released will Krasnov nuke Gaza?

(845 posts)It should be pretty obvious by now that Trump spews lies to manipulate his supporters. This is his "leadership style" and it is right from the Nazi playbook. For Trump, the 2020 election, his conspiracy to overthrow it, and Jan 6 are inconvenient truths. So he rewrote the truth with his own false narrative.

There is plenty of footage showing Trump stirring up the crowd on the day, all he needs to do is his research.
But that is best avoided, right, Trump?

(431 posts)...could manipulate a crowd of many thousands of MAGA supporters to attack police offices and the US Capitol building while chanting, "hang Mike Pence!"
They would really rather say they were so weak that they were somehow goaded into these heinous actions by provocateurs than to admit personal responsibility? And here I thought "personal responsibility" was a big part of their philosophy. It's funny how they never seem to take any--I guess that is for everyone else.
But I do relish in the embarrassment most of them feel by the end of the conversation that they even went down that road of utter weakness in the first place. Inevitably they change the subject to trans boys in girls' sports--because ever actually admitting you were wrong is not part of their psyche.
So sure, go with the story that a handful of FBI agents that Biden brought in over four years earlier in anticipation that somewhere along the line they would be in place to embarrass a MAGA mob by encouraging them to violently assault the US Capitol (or maybe something else) and hang the sitting vice president if that's what it takes to make you sleep better at night. It's probably a lot easier than believing you are in a violent cult that ignores reality in service of a selfish ideology led by one of the worst human beings to ever exist.
