Former President Joe Biden undergoing radiation therapy as cancer care enters new phase
Source: NBC
Former President Joe Biden is undergoing a new phase of treatment for an aggressive form of cancer that was diagnosed in May, a spokesperson said Saturday.
"As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment," according to the spokesperson for the former president.
The radiation treatment is expected to span five weeks and marks a new point in his care, a source familiar told NBC News. He has already been taking a pill form of hormone medication.

Days following Biden's team announcing his diagnosis, Trump shared a post which called Biden a "decrepit corpse." The post also accused Democrats of stealing the 2020 election, pardoning "their friends," and of using "an autopen to start wars"the latter a reference to the accusation that Biden did not physically sign official documents, including pardons, and that the White House instead used an automated signature.
In May, he called Biden a "somewhat vicious person", adding: "If you feel sorry for him, don't feel so sorry, because he's vicious. What he did with his political opponent and all of the people that he hurt, he hurt a lot of people, Biden, so I really don't feel sorry for him."
In September, at the American Cornerstone Institute Founder's Dinner in Mount Vernon, Virginia he called Biden "angry" and "mean."
"You know Biden was always a mean guy but never a smart guy. You go back thirty years ago, 40 years ago, he was a stupid guy. But he was always a mean son of a b***h you know?"
He added: "How's it working? Not working too well for him right now. So, when you start feeling sorry for him, remember he's a bad guy."

(1,664 posts)PLEASE monitor your PSA. If you get an annual check-up, ask your Doc to include PSA along with the other panels they will likely order. They may not automatically do this until age 55 or something, but definitely ask for it at least by age 40 and get it every year. With early detection, this is almost 100% treatable or manageable.
I have friends who had onset of prostate cancer before age 40. It is important to have the annual tests and to track the changes. The medical professionals probably won't automatically do anything until PSA is above 4. In my case, it was always under 3 until it started creeping up: 3.2, 3.4 etc. After a couple of tests that showed an increase, I got an appointment with the urologist. That was before it reached 4. He did the dreaded digital exam (which is really no big deal) and was concerned. We watched for 6 months and he decided there was a likelihood of a fast growing tumor, so we proceeded with biopsy.
Ultimately I had the prostate removed, and am now reaching the 10-year point where we declare it cancer free. But there are many other treatment options. The key thing is to catch it early. Men tend to associate the prostate with their manhood. Don't be foolish.
None of this really relates to President Biden's case because we have no idea of the details. I am just saying, this is one of the most treatable cancers if you catch it early. And you CAN catch it early, but you have to be your own advocate.

but I wish it was possible for me to be there to provide support and strength for you to get through this as I did with my wife. I know many Americans feel the same way. Thank you for your service, your humanity and for setting an example of a man that loves his family. You're a good American and a great human being.
