LINCOLN Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen last week weighed in on the latest request from the U.S. Department of Justice for the states voter registration data showing a willingness to fulfill the request.
Federal officials have asked states for detailed information from their voter rolls, including names, dates of birth, drivers license numbers and the last four digits of voters Social Security numbers, saying they want the information to ensure accurate voter registrations. Democratic-led states and some led by Republicans have declined or are pushing back against federal efforts to gather the data over state laws protecting data and privacy concerns.
Critics have questioned the safety and potential national security risks of letting any administration consolidate such voter data in one place.
In a Sept. 29 interview with KFAB, Evnen, after seeking guidance from Attorney General Mike Hilgers, said he was fine with handing over the voter data because the states maintenance practices are complete and proper.

(12,973 posts)Im sure he wants voter data to be added so he can target Democrats. The NYT recently published an opinion piece by Roger Edsall called Trump is not afraid of a Civil War. Neither is Stephen Miller. He quoted Miller from his speech at Kirks funeral.
At the memorial service for Charlie Kirk last month in Phoenix, Stephen Miller, Trumps top domestic policy adviser, described in great detail how the administration plans to deal with its domestic opponents: We will not live in fear, but you will live in exile, because the power of law enforcement under President Trumps leadership will be used to find you, will be used to take away your money, take away your power, and if you have broken the law, to take away your freedom.
We Democrats are the domestic opponents, and just because we disagree with and criticize Trumps policies, they plan to keep records on us (through government databases and the voter data they have demanded), use our data to take away our money and power (for example by outlawing ActBlue and other Democratic organizations), and then create false crimes to prosecute and imprison us. If that is not fascism, I dont know what is. Miller is talking about replicating the Stasi of East Germany and having the government exert total control over citizens who do not worship at Trumps feet.
