WASHINGTON The Supreme Court wont help conservative provocateur Laura Loomer take on social media companies and their advertisers who have blocked her posts. Loomer, an influential outside adviser to President Donald Trump, has garnered significant attention for her conspiracy theories and inflammatory comments.
She was banned from Twitter in 2018 for hateful conduct. In 2019, Facebook banned Loomer and other controversial figures as "dangerous individuals," saying it bans any user who promotes violence or hate. However, her Twitter account was reinstated after billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk purchased the platform, now known as X, in 2022.
The court on Oct. 6 rejected an appeal by Loomer in her fourth unsuccessful lawsuit alleging Facebook and X conspired with advertisers to keep her from using their sites when she was running for Congress in the 2020 and 2022 elections. The bans doomed her campaigns, she said in the suit.
"Social media is critical to campaigns, especially during COVID-19 restrictions that limited traditional campaigning methods like door-to-door canvassing and public events," her attorneys wrote. A federal judge in California dismissed the suit, which relied on the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

(193,405 posts)Right-wing activist and internet personality Laura Loomer was banned from UberEats in February 2019, shortly after she was banned from the payment platforms PayPal and Venmo. Her removal from UberEats was part of a larger series of bans from technology companies due to her history of anti-Muslim and hateful rhetoric.
Background on the ban
Initial Uber ban: Loomer's use of Uber and its related services was first revoked in November 2017. This occurred after she posted anti-Muslim remarks on Twitter in response to a terrorist attack in New York City.
Expansion to UberEats: The ban was later extended to include the company's food delivery service, UberEats, in 2019.
Violation of guidelines: An Uber spokesperson confirmed at the time that Loomer had been banned for violating the company's Community Guidelines. These guidelines require all users to treat others with respect and state that hateful conduct is prohibited.

(16,899 posts)Her suit was initially brought before, and dismissed by, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She appealed to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, who affirmed the circuit court's dismissal. Loomer then appealed to SCOTUS.

But, remember, when a Democrat tries to do the same, and gets the boot, they all crow about the 'unfettered free market self-policing its own products' or some shit. Of course, there are very few of those around. I wonder why? (Human beings vs. sociopathic harpies... anyone have any ideas?)
What a complete... you know the word. Rhymes with 'ditch'.

(2,383 posts)T was also ejected from platforms for similiar reasons, but was reinstated by the supremes for...reasons. Looney loomer is rejected for the same reasons, but courts uphold the reasoning? Is T (or more likely prezie miller) getting ready ditch her because she gotten way too looney even for him? Is she on her way out, and is too dense to see the writing on the wall?

(161,376 posts)has their own little fiefdom and since she is not "official", they are probably trying to keep her from their universe. The Courts have waved away her objections but some of the platforms have brought her back (like X) for their own reasons.
