Former Marine fighter pilot Amy McGrath has launched a campaign for Kentuckys open U.S. Senate seat, her second U.S. Senate bid after losing to longtime Republican incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell in 2020.
McGrath in a social media post Monday morning featured a video of her walking up to a lone chair while saying, This isnt just a chair. Its an open seat. McConnell, 83, the Senates longest-ever party leader, set off what promises to be a fierce fight for his seat when he announced in February that he would not seek an eighth term.

I have been listening to Amy McGrath on msnbc this morning. She is really good at explaining what is going on in Fed government with Trump and immigration.

(496 posts)I like her too, but she needs to use the word "politicization" correctly. I heard her say "politization" several times, which I don't believe is even a word.

(3,501 posts)That said, I would also be elated if I never heard her say ever again "republicans used to be the party of national security." Her recall of history and data is WAY off.
But I totally support her candidacy.

Most hated politician in the country not named Ted Cruz at the time, mcturtle and somehow he crushed her.
Wasn't sure if it was rigged or voters were that ignorant and lazy.

(4,974 posts)McConnell amassed a LOT of power in his lifetime, and he certainly never let little things like 'ethics' keep him from using it to his advantage.
Kentuckians have been smart enough to keep 'Andy' as their governor. I trust them to elect McGrath, now that that 'Son-of-a-Mitch' is out of the picture!

(3,284 posts)Especially since McConnell is so close to getting in the pine box. Even if he isn't, I'm sure she'll fair well against an opponent who is either a total moron or closted frequent Grindr app user.
