Trump's Promise on Coke Recipe Fizzles Out Immediately as Coca-Cola Blanks Him
Source: Daily Beast

President Donald Trumps seeming attempt to distract from the Jeffrey Epstein debacle by claiming he had single-handedly changed the recipe of Coca-Cola has quickly turned from sweet to sour.
Days after he longingly wondered what was going on with his boys and, in some cases, gals, the long-time Diet Coke aficionado announced on Wednesday that Coca-Cola had agreed to use real sugar rather than corn syrup in its drinks made within the U.S.
I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Wednesday. Id like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them Youll see. Its just better!
However, on Wednesday, the Atlanta-based soft drink giant did not confirm the critical change the president said hed negotiated with the company or elaborate on any switch-up of their recipe. A Coca-Cola spokesperson told the Daily Beast, We appreciate President Trumps enthusiasm for our iconic Coca‑Cola brand. More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca‑Cola product range will be shared soon. It remains unclear whether the proposal has been accepted.

But then the corn was modified and bred to be abled to be used for Ethynol and then rebred to be herbicide resistant and then rebred to be insect resistant.
The factory corn is no longer the same product that was tested and found safe.
I watch a lot of Asian shows. I have noticed in Thailand the shift to HFCS in the drinks and food. And they use a lot of sugar. The youth stayed skinny until just recently.
Just my stupid opinion.

"The United States produces roughly one-third of the world's corn. Specifically, in 2023/2024, the US accounted for approximately 31.54% of global corn production. This is a significant portion, with the US being the world's largest corn producer. "
Well corn growers, enjoy what your vote got you.

(7,963 posts)Big boost in subsidy for the polluters from Big Sugar will make the cost go even higher for consumers already battered by high prices.
The feds already prop up our sugar industry with expensive government subsidies. This bill boosts that subsidy even higher, from 19.75 cents per pound to 24 cents per pound.
Bear in mind that the sugar industry produces about 8 million tons of sugar every year. A hike of a nickel on a pound of sugar equals an awful lot of dough.
Its egregious that this polluting industry which Florida taxpayers have paid well over $2 billion to clean up after is poised to reap even more profits if this budget bill passes the U.S. Senate, said Eve Samples, executive director of Friends of the Everglades.
Samples questioned how boosting the profits of the sugar industry fits in with the goals of an administration that says its going to Make America Healthy Again.
Maybe in this case the slogan should be altered to Make Big Sugars Profits Healthy.

(10,024 posts)Are not the people who consume it more important than the farmers. Plus the farmers have little choice but to grow GMO corn with Roundup?
Roundup is cancer causing so the farmers are screwed either way. Many have joined the cancer class action glyphosate lawsuits but Trump wants to pass laws that would stop lawsuits against pesticide companies.

The nightmare effect on fish and wildlife is noticeable with the deer's cycle being messed up having fawns throughout the year, etc- Some babies not making it through the winter being too young to survive- passing the poison to offspring. Just imagine what it's ben doing to the human genome since then by consuming big ag processed foods. Big Ag, Pharma corporations are supposed to be people ? (156,902 posts)but I think that Coke is "spicier" and "sharper" with a "kick" right at the first sip vs Pepsi, which is more "mild" and "smoother", with just a little "kick" at the end.
(of course that is the canned/bottled version - I expect the fountain versions may vary depending on how they set the syrup to carbonated water mix ratio)

The carbonation is perfect.
Then a delicious sweet and wonderful iconic taste.
The same with fountain coke which is by far the best.
Then bottled coke in glass bottles.
The rest of it in cans and plastic bottles are not worth mentioning.
Pepsi, right a bland medicinal taste. No carbonation.

(37,659 posts)When I was pregnant and was nauseous for the entire 9 months my OB suggested I take small sips throughout the day and it did help a little. I still do that if I have the flu and cant eat anything. When I was a child, parents used to give Coke syrup to kids to settle their stomachs. You could but it in a little bottle at the drug store. Do they still sell it, I wonder.

(156,902 posts)it's a syrupy mix that is heavy in one of the types of cinnamon (and there are many) that is spicy, with vanilla to soften it, along with a light blend of citrus (but not "citrus" enough to really compare to Sprite or lemon-lime soda, etc). There may even be ginger in it too.
Sounds like a description of a fine wine! LOL
I don't drink it much anymore - I drink mostly coffee, tea, or water (mostly the latter). I hate that I don't even drink fruit juice anymore (I always loved pineapple juice). When I was younger, it was my "cold caffeine".

(28,003 posts)you NOT drink any soft drink of any kind, no matter how it is sweetened.
I know, it's almost like suggesting you drive a car with a stick shift.
I gave up soft drinks of all kinds some thirty years ago, because my son had gotten to the point where he would not drink anything else, not even water, so I got rid of all soft drinks. Which pissed me off at the time, because I didn't think I should also be giving them up, but realized I couldn't keep some in the house just for me. After a while I got used to no soft drinks, and I'm glad. I think there are probably a lot of subtle effects from soft drinks that we don't yet understand, sort of like it took far too long for everyone to understand how bad cigarettes are.

EXHIBIT ONE: Remember how TSF announced that Elton John was going to perform for his Inaugural in 2017? The whole ruse was to put EJ in a position where it would be embarrassing (in theory) for him to deny and "back out", thereby agitating the MAGA fans. And EJ would then have to perform (likely without being paid). But EJ did deny and deny vociferously. He wasn't going to be blackmailed. (Likely he spoke to Mick Jagger and The Stones about how to handle TSF.)

(62 posts)by drinking Zevia sodas exclusively. If you can't stand the aftertaste of stevia, you won't like them, but I'm used to it and this former Diet Coke addict hasn't had any other kind of soda since 2007 (other than a Mexican coke now and again). You can get them at most supermarkets, but Sprouts and Whole Foods carry a wider range of their delicious flavors. Cherry Cola, Orange, Cran-Raspberry, Strawberry Lemonade, Cream Soda, Vanilla Cola...yum!

(874 posts)Not sure this will happen.
Coca-Cola tried a variation of this before with a product called Coca-Cola Life.
It has since been discontinued because of under-performance.
This was their ingredients.
carbonated water, cane sugar, caramel color, natural flavors, phosphoric acid, potassium benzoate (to protect taste), caffeine, and stevia leaf extract (steviol glycosides processed from stevia leaf)
Notice more cane sugar than stevia.
It came in green cans; some critics said Coca-Cola was using "greenwashing"
Not sure why he cares.
He drinks Diet Coke, which is sweetened with aspartame.
For me, I avoid anything with aspartame.
