WASHINGTON (AP) — Maurene Comey, the daughter of former FBI director James Comey who as a federal prosecutor in Manhattan worked on cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein, said in a note to colleagues that “fear is the tool of a tyrant” and that her firing without reason should fuel “a fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power.”

“If a career prosecutor can be fired without reason, fear may seep into the decisions of those who remain,” Comey said in the note, which was obtained by The Associated Press on Thursday. “Do not let that happen. Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought.”

“Instead of fear,” she added, “let this moment fuel the fire that already burns at the heart of this place. A fire of righteous indignation at abuses of power. Of commitment to seek justice for victims. Of dedication to truth above all else.”...................................

10. I read Jim Comey's book when it came out

... and he made it clear that his wife and family are Dems and always have been. He said in his book that he's not affiliated with any party, but that may have changed in the last 8 years or so. I'd be surprised if Comey himself has any love left for Repukes of any stripe.

I noticed in a new MSNBC clip that that the host/reporter mistakenly referred to Comey as a Democrat when in fact he was a registered Repub for decades.

Once he became Director of the FBI he dropped his membership in the GOP. But of course that doesn't mean he didn't vote for Chump in 2016 - he probably did. How he has voted after 2016 is anybody's guess.

He was registered GOP until he became the Director of the FBI. Then he stepped back from politics and became "independent" according to his book. His wife and family are Democrats.

The comments I made earlier are a reflection of how Jim Comey has been treated by Chump and other MAGAs since he was fired from the FBI in 2017. If you recall that whole incident, he was fired as a result of the meeting with Chump where Chump demanded that he swear his "loyalty," and Comey refused.

how one defines going to war. In the modern age, it often means writing a book and going on tour to promote it. I'm not against that, since it seems fewer read books these days. So television shows and pod casts can present a public education opportunity, which is good.

Would it be legal for her to publicly discuss everything she knows? Probably not, but I sure wish she would. That would be, in my opinion, going to war. Our country needs people who will go to war in non-violent ways, despite there being serious risks involved.
