House Republicans who have not been able to cobble together a budget bill that they can send to the floor for a vote are being warned by members of Donald Trump's inner circle that they will face his wrath in the coming week.
According to a report from Politico's Rachel Bade, the president is furious with the House Budget Committee for failing to reach an agreement on his "big beautiful" bill which led to a flurry of attacks from Trump on Truth Social as returned from his trip in the Middle East on Friday.
As the report noted, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is on the spot, pointing out, "This has mostly been Johnsons problem to solve, and he and other GOP leaders have tried to be sensitive to not pulling Trump in too early to fix their problems."
With Bade writing, "Theres an internal understanding that they need to do most of the cleanup on their own before calling dad and tattling on the naughty kids," one White House insider texted to Bade, "Republicans on the Hill need to figure their s--t out.

(464 posts)Be more afraid of their constituents than Trump. Lately, Trump has been a pox on political campaigns. He won't have the appeal that he once had, especially after he tanks the economy. The voters, on the other hand, can easily vote them out next time. They seem to forget who they are supposed to answer to, and it's not Donald Trump.

(425 posts)If Biden had threatened Democrats, the right wing blogsphere and Fox News would still be screaming about it. But about Trump they say nothing, just like they never commented on the "grab 'em by the pussy" tape or his conviction on sexual assault. Apparently the right thinks threats are just AOK.

(1,638 posts)If there are any Republicans actually caring about USA, they could form a third party, something like "New Republicans" it would change everything, as the current MAGA controlled group would no longer be the majority. However, I doubt any Republican really cares, these reports are just another way to give the appearance they care but are too afraid to do anything. I bet behind closed doors they are laughing at the scam they are pulling. Every Republican is responsible and needs to be held accountable by the voters. Full and absolute accountability needs to be the main point Democrats push these days.

There is no Judicial or Legislative Branch of Government in a Tyranny/Dictatorship.....Once they all have outgrown their usefulness, they will be thrown under the bus like everyone else his entire life, and especially since 2016, and it is accelerating.....

There is no need for any of us to offer solutions to save them; no need to suggest changes to their party, no need to inform their constituents of what to look for in their candidates. The best advice I have for any elected republican is to just keep doing what you're doing, and make sure your constituents are very well informed of all that you do.
