'Crushed' Elise Stefanik 'Scrambled' To Convince Trump To Change His Mind About Pulling Her Nomination

Source: MEDIAite

Mar 27th, 2025, 11:02 pm

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) reportedly “scrambled” to get President Donald Trump to reverse course on withdrawing her nomination as Ambassador to the United Nations.

On Thursday, CBS News reported that Stefanik was under pressure to withdraw her name from consideration because Republicans hold a narrow majority in the House, which they control 218-213. Four seats are vacant and special elections will be held to fill them within the next few months. Two of those seats – AZ-7 and TX-18 – are solidly Democratic districts. The other two districts – FL-1 and FL-6 – are normally solidly red, but Republicans are concerned about the poor polling numbers of their nominee Randy Fine in FL-6, where his Democratic opponent is polling within the margin of error.

Shortly after the CBS News report dropped, Trump pulled Stefanik’s nomination. “As we advance our America First Agenda, it is essential that we maintain EVERY Republican Seat in Congress,” he wrote.

According to sources who spoke with Axios, Stefanik did not exactly go – or rather, remain, quietly. “Stefanik was crushed and scrambled to reverse Trump’s decision before he announced it on Truth Social, according to people familiar with the matter,” the outlet reported. “But for Trump, the margins were too close for comfort.”

The entirety of the GOP is peopled by those who are nothing but "opportunists" and "users". It's very very obvious. They will "go along" as long as it satisfies some "agenda" item that they have on their list (even if it severely damages others), and then they move on.

With respect to Putin, he is a "higher level" of a source to get closer to obtaining something on the agenda, but there is no real "connection" (even with those puppet strings being pulled).

If Fine can slip 20 points in his super-red Panhandle seat, no Republican is safe.

And the brain worm we need to get planted in every Republican's head is that, if you thought Trump was the safe bet, in 2026, being linked to Trump might be a death sentence, so maybe you had better start separating from him now.

I own a place in the southeast part of her sprawling district where a lot of district's people live. They gerrymandered Saratoga Springs out of her district but there are still quite a few liberals in the Glens Falls metro area and in Plattsburgh. While there are indeed many hardcore MAGA types in her district there are also a lot of less committed folks. Republican New Yorkers -- even those Upstate -- value education, literacy, a clean environment, healthcare, .... more than Republicans in other states. This district was Democratic as recently as 2015.

Regardless of the chances of displacing her in 2026, it is delicious to have seen her sell her soul and end up getting nothing for all of that.

If they are sweating the Fine election (a +20 district), there could be a whole lot of "safe" GOP districts in play in 2026. And we need to make sure every GOP Rep understands that if they lock their lips on Trump's butt in 2025, we will make them pay in 2026.

Tourism is down already. Restaurants, stores, motels.

or more accurately, pissed off enough, to switch parties? It's worth a phone call to find out. Now before you all attack me for this idea, if we can win the two Florida districts and a switcheroonie in her district, we would have the House by 1 vote. There are two other districts that are solid D that will also hold special elections soon. We should not have a problem there.

her district was swing and had a Democrat. The NY fuck-up redrawing that netted something like 6 (R) seats from that state alone, has slowly been clawed back (I think a net of 3 plus the surprise pickup of Santos' seat), with the last redrawing of lines (although not much was done to her district).

you don't even feel safe moving your lackeys around for fear of losing a single vote in the House are two concepts that really do not comport. And remember: every member of the House went through the same election you did since they are all on two-year terms, so it isn't like the Senate where people may want you to have a mandate but can't vote for enough seats to turn things in your favor. If the American people were really handing you a mandate you would not be on the knife's edge of even holding on to power. Interestingly, this move belies all of the mandate bluster and shows that the WH is aware of their precarious position--which they also know will only get worse given the juvenile governing strategies.
