WISCONSIN (WQOW) - Senator Tammy Baldwin is urging the USDA to help Wisconsin farmers impacted by the bankruptcy of Pure Prairie Poultry.
As News 18 reported, Pure Prairie Poultry is a Minnesota-based business with a large poultry processing plant in Iowa.
Farmers in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin had contracts with the company to raise their chickens to later be processed.
Pure Prairie then tried to file for bankruptcy in September, which was then denied.
The company dissolved, leaving local farmers with few options and hundreds of thousands of chickens' lives in limbo..................
