Former President Donald Trump's town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on Monday evening was interrupted twice by medical emergencies in a very warm Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and Fairgrounds before he cut the program short. There was a medical emergency that required an attendee to be placed on a stretcher about 30 minutes into the event. As the crowd started singing "God Bless America," Trump requested that "Ave Maria" be played on the loudspeakers as medics tended to the man.
Moments later, there was a second medical emergency. "The safety and well-being of President Trump's supporters is always his top priority," Karoline Leavitt, Trump's campaign press secretary, said in a statement to ABC News after the event. "The two individuals who fainted were immediately given medical attention. As President Trump said tonight, they are great patriots," Leavitt added.
Following the medical emergencies, Trump requested that the doors be opened but he was advised that for security reasons that wasn't possible. Both Trump and moderator South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem commented on the heat in the room. "Open the doors. I wish we could open those doors to outside," Trump said. "For security reasons, they can't. But you know what I suggest? Open them. Because anybody comes through those doors, you know what's going to happen to them."
"Personally, I enjoy this. We lose weight, you know. No, you lose weight. We could do this -- lose four or five pounds," Trump quipped. "Would anybody else like to faint?" Trump said as the second person made their way out of the Expo Center. Trump then requested that "Ave Maria" be played again and remained on stage as more music was played.

It only went up to 69 where I live in Philly and Oaks is about 20 miles or so NW of me so obviously much cooler. A cold front came through with chilly winds yesterday, so not sure what was going on there at that facility other than a lot of "hot air"...

If anything, the local media coverage here in Philly glossed over what happened there.

(139,708 posts)I'm guessing they didn't have the air-handling system on. They wouldn't have needed any heat although maybe they did "accidentally" have the heat on.
They recently put solar panels on the roof -

The former president, adamant about playing his music, stood on stage for nearly 45 minutes swaying to several songs on his playlist as the crowd sang and danced along.
The crowd slowly dispersed, but many stayed for the entirety of the campaign event.
These articles tend to focus on parts of the events to highlight and some do it with more "click-baity" fervor than others.

(36 posts)The NY Times makes it sound completely reasonable that a candidate for President would not answer any more questions at a TOWN HALL campaign event weeks before the election after two people in the audience (not on stage) needed medical treatment (and got it). Show me a single campaign event/large concert/sporting event where there aren't any medical events in the crowd? But it's one big party to the kneeling, corporate media.
And so Mr. Trump, a political candidate known for improvisational departures, made a detour. Rather than try to restart the political program, he seemed to decide in the moment that it would be more enjoyable for all concerned and, it appeared, for himself to just listen to music instead.
....The playlist session was a glimpse of the private version of Mr. Trump seen more often at Mar-a-Lago, his residence and club in Palm Beach, Fla., than at political events. The former president has been known to take out an iPad that is connected to the speaker system there and play D.J. for his guests.
