GOP senator slams 'radical leftist' Tim Walz for 'getting married on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square'

Source: UK Independent

Republican Senator Ron Johnson attacked Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz over his ties to China, claiming it’s a red flag that the “radical leftist” got married “on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square.”

Speaking to Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, the Wisconsin lawmaker and member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee said of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate: “She’s a radical leftist. She chose another radical leftist. They’re just assuming the mainstream media is not going to cover his background.

“The House is going to investigate it now — it’s very strange. He got married on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square. He’s gone to China. He’s taught in China. He’s got deep connections to China.”

Donald Trump’s conservative allies have tried hard to attack the Minnesota governor on a range of issues since he was chosen by Vice President Harris to join her on the Democratic ticket earlier this month, angered by Walz’s repeated attacks on Trump and his deputy JD Vance as “weird.”

And Johnson is a total traitor.

From the WaPo article:

“What does July 4th mean to me? Freedom,” Sen. Ron Johnson chirruped on Twitter on Independence Day.

For the Wisconsin Republican, it meant, specifically, the freedom to spend July 4 in Moscow with seven other Republican lawmakers posing for propaganda photos with Russian officials. On the same day it was reported in Britain that two more people had been poisoned by a Russian nerve agent British officials say came from Vladimir Putin’s regime. On the day after the Senate Intelligence Committee affirmed the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Russia interfered in the election to help Donald Trump.

Johnson and his colleagues apparently exercised their freedom not to meet with opposition or civil society figures (those whom the Putin regime has not imprisoned or killed), avoiding the risk of offending their hosts. They also exercised their freedom to soft-pedal their criticism of the Russian government, leading Russian politicians and state media to mock them as supplicants.Yet despite this lavish display of the freedom to kowtow, they didn’t get the meeting they hoped for with Putin himself. He was busy, the Kremlin said.

There was a time, in the pre-Trump era, when Republicans would have erupted in fireworks over an Independence Day visit by submissive American lawmakers to the country the 2012 Republican presidential nominee called “our number one geopolitical foe.” (Relations have worsened considerably since then.) They called Jane Fonda “Hanoi Jane” and a traitor when she went to North Vietnam in 1972. After Democrats visited Iraq in 2002, Republicans ridiculed them as “Baghdad boys.”

he's suggesting Walz is pro-CCP but they don't exactly celebrate Tiananmen Square:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Tiananmen_Square_protests_and_massacre

The Chinese government continues to forbid discussions about the Tiananmen Square protests[310][311] and has taken measures to block or censor related information, in an attempt to suppress the public's memory of the Tiananmen Square protests.[312] Textbooks contain little, if any, information about the protests.

That was April 15, so he also got married on the anniversary of:

The sinking of the Titanic
The death of Abraham Lincoln
The debut of Jackie Robinson
The opening of the first McDonalds

Which frankly leaves me with several burning questions. Why did Jackie Robinson make his debut appearance on the anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln? Why did the first McDonalds open on the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic?

And more importantly, IS TIM WALZ RESPONSIBLE? AND IF SO, FOR WHAT?

I think Ron Johnson should start an investigation into these disturbing questions.

EDITED TO ADD IMPORTANT UPDATE:

It's been brought to my attention by Ron Johnson that Tim Walz actually got married on June 4, which is the first day of the Tiananmen Square massacre, not April 15, which is when the protests began. This means that he also got married on the same day that:

The Battle of Midway started
Jack Kevorkian carried out his first publicly assisted suicide
Mission Impossible won an Emmy for outstanding dramatic series
The original Gerber baby died aged 95

In other words, Tim Walz is definitely guilty of something.

The protests were halted in a deadly crackdown, known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, by the Chinese government on June 4 and 5, 1989.

https://www.history.com/topics/asian-history/tiananmen-square

In fact, Walz planned his wedding date to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the Tiananmen crackdown on June 4: “He wanted to have a date he’d always remember,” his future wife, then known as Gwen Whipple, told the newspaper.

John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), and Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas).

42. Walz taught for 1 yr in China
Mon Aug 19, 2024, 03:10 PM
Aug 19

...from Wiki. I was not aware of this part of Walz history. Maybe he chose the date of the massacre on purpose. So what?

After graduating from Chadron State College in 1989, Walz accepted a one-year teaching position with WorldTeach in Foshan No.1 High School in Guangdong, China.[20][21] He described the Tiananmen Square massacre that happened right before he arrived as an important moment in his life.[22] He has said that the problem with China is not the people but the government, and that with the right leadership the Chinese people could accomplish anything.[23] After returning, he took a job teaching and coaching in Alliance, a town of ten thousand in western Nebraska,[23] and in 1993 was named Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Junior Chamber.[24]

45. Johnson probably can't tell us the date but I looked it up

April 15th, 1989. That's usually tax day in the US. But I then asked about April 15th in history and got this page here:

https://www.timeanddate.com/on-this-day/april/15

looks to me like this may be the big thing of the day:
1945 The German concentration camp Bergen-Belsen is liberated
British and Canadian troops found about 53,000 prisoners inside the camp. Tens of thousands died before and after the liberation.

Jesus Christ, Johnson anybody that doesn't laugh in your face on that one most be dead

That's when the protests started. They ended on 4 June. The Walzs married on the massacre date, 5 years later.

I seriously doubt that Tiananmen had anything to do with that. Do you know anyone who would want their big day, an occasion all about love and joy, to be about something like that?

Only traitor GOP would ever think someone could choose such a date to get married.

someone picks something good and something bad probably happened. Also someone good and someone really bad was probably born.

That was a hell of a reach for the mini-mind of Johnson.

Thanks for the correction BTW - I thought that date sounded off.

Me being a devout ReThug Conservative,...

... my wife was about to give birth to our first child on the anniversary of the day Ronald Reagan died.

Should I immediately run into the kitchen grabbing the sharpest knife I could find, then run back to the master bedroom and stab her repeatedly in the stomach. Then call 911 to summons an ambulance to take her to the hospital for an immediate abortion.

We can not dishonor Ronald Reagan to that extent. Besides if my wife lives through all this, we can always make another attempt for a healthy but more timely birth of our next chance of having child.

WTF ? What kind of bonkers thinking is this shit ?

These Fascist Conservative politicians will conjure up and concoct a variety of absurd ways to demean, debase, destroy, fabricate lies, and make up malicious stories to dehumanize while turning their political opponents into three headed fire breathing monsters in an attempt to totally discount and invalidate them.

Again repeat,.. Democrats don't bring a feather duster to a gun fight with a Fascist ReThug. When they come with an AR-15 fully loaded, while taking only head shots at you.

It just shows somebody in his office searched "on this date in history" and that's the best they could do.

Plus, I'm sure a closer examination would reveal his distaste for the Chinese students and satisfaction when the demonstrations were crushed by the government. Law n order, and all that.

Morons. Here's some other stuff that happened on 4 June:

1561 - Lightning causes a fire that destroys St Paul's Cathedral.

1760 - New England colonists drive the Acadians out of Nova Scotia in what became known as the Great Upheaval (later memorialized in Longfellow's poem, Evangeline).

1783 - The Montgolfier brothers debut the hot air balloon. Exactly one year later, Élisabeth Thible becomes the first woman to pilot one.

1792 - George Vancouver claims Puget Sound for England.

1855 - Henry Wayne sets sail on an expedition to acquire camels for the US Camel Corps. Probably my favorite entry for 'This Day in History.'

1862 - Traitor Confederates abandon Fort Pillow, and Union troops occupy it as a base for taking Memphis soon thereafter.

1876 - First completed voyage of a US transcontinental train voyage. Considered an 'express' route, it took over 83 hours to run between NYC and SF.

1901 - Massachusetts passes the first minimum wage law.

1917 - First Pulitzer Prizes awarded. A fun trivia question would be to name a winner.

1919 - Congress approves the Nineteenth Amendment (women's right to vote), and sends it to states for ratification.

1939 - In perhaps the most repugnant display of anti-Semitism in American history, the US Government denies landing permission to the ship MS Saint Louis, which was carrying over 900 Jews fleeing Europe. More than 200 of them will later die in concentration camps.

1940 - End of Dunkirk evacuation of more than 335,000 British soldiers from France.

1942 - Start of Battle of Midway.

1944 - US troops under the command of Mark Clark (seriously) captures Rome.

1977 - JVC introduces the VHS video tape.

--------
All those things to choose from, and Tiananmen Square is what they pick from the bunch? Really? The choice says far more about this traitor Putin asset than it ever could about Walz.

That Spain recognized the independence of Mexico, and William Röntgen published his paper about his discover of X-ray radiation.

It's also the day that suffragette Constance Markievicz became the first woman to win election to the British Parliament. She ran her campaign from prison on drummed up charges related to the German plot in Ireland. I promise it will be worth your while to go down that Irish history rabbit hole.

Getting married on a day that the couple probably worked out for family and friends with no even vague thoughts about an occurrence in another country. How does that even begin to compare with spending a 4th of July holiday in Russia kissing Putin's ass?
