Rudy Giuliani snubbed judge's order in defamation case, election worker says

Source: NBC News

Sept. 21, 2023, 8:24 PM EDT

Rudy Giuliani has failed to comply with a federal judge's order to turn over evidence and pay legal fees to election workers he defamed, according to a new court filing. In papers filed Thursday, lawyers for Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss say Giuliani "failed to take any of the actions" a federal judge ordered him to carry out by Wednesday, including paying $89,000 in attorneys' fees for the two election workers.

U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., issued the order last month in response to Giuliani's having failed to comply with earlier court orders. An attorney and a spokesperson for Giuliani did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday night.

In her ruling last month, Howell blasted Giuliani for repeatedly ignoring court orders demanding he turn over required information to Freeman and Moss for their civil suit alleging he defamed them after the 2020 presidential election. "The bottom line is that Giuliani has refused to comply with his discovery obligations and thwarted plaintiffs Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ArShaye Moss’s procedural rights to obtain any meaningful discovery in this case,” Howell wrote.

She granted Freeman and Moss a default judgment last month finding Giuliani "civilly liable on plaintiffs’ defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy, and punitive damage claims." Howell also ordered Giuliani to turn over personal and business financial documents by Wednesday and to pay Freeman and Moss' lawyers for legal costs tied to trying to get him to comply with court orders. Furthermore, she ordered his businesses to pay $43,684 for costs related to a similar motion, "with interest on that amount to accrue from September 20, 2023 until the date of final judgment against Giuliani personally if his eponymous businesses fail to comply."

choice made to keep information about his actions and those with whom he acted in the coup attempt from becoming evidence of how it operated and proof of how much of the BIG LIE he initiated and coordinated.

It is also to keep names hidden of those who paid to enable it. Those unsaid names of influential ultra-nationalist rich people who even now still act to destroy our government and nation through vermin like Matt Gaetz, and the 6 RW members of SCOTUS.

But, he is in the first tier. They don't get 'locked up'. They get asked to appear and asked to oblige the judgement of the court. They get treated like humans. We get herded into cages like animals if we jaywalk. Two-Tiered System... again.

If it were you or I the handcuffs would be on. If there is one thing to learn from all this TFG debacle is how the well off and well connected are treated differently than the rest of us. Contempt, intimidating witneses, whatever. This whole shit show reminds me of the
McCarthy era when all the pols were afraid of McCarthy. The Magats have that position today. It seems that Maybe someone in the Judiciary will pull their head out of their ass and realize they are nothing but a paper tiger that couldn't properly organize a wiener roast.
I suspect it has a lot to do with our mostly chickenshit news media.

About all he's got left is his Manhattan condo that he just put on the market.

He recently when hat-in-hand to trump begging for help so trump put on the fundraiser for him in Jersey but it's rumored only 10 people showed up.

Judges tell Piss Wig to shut his pig mouth and yet he runs it more than ever and nothing happens.

Douchey Giuliani is ordered to pay damages and fees and doesn’t, no one does anything.

It sure seems like certain people can snub judges if they want to.

It seems like these people can just do anything they want, whenever they want and no one does a goddamn thing about it.

Any of us would have been in jail for far lesser crimes and yet Тяцмр, this dickweed and everyone involved at the top levels can just thumb their noses and skate.

It’s really annoying.

. . . much needed dental work on the teeth of his lower jaw. Had you thought of that? Or maybe etiquette lessons on how not to "tuck in your shirt" when there are (alleged) underage people in the room.

Seriously though, exactly when the eff is that "party of personal responsibility" going to kick in?!?

Guiliani, Trump, Alex Jones, etc etc.

I don't think any of them will pay out ever. Why should they? There are no repercussions. Or at least no incarceration consequences. Fines are easily paid by fund raising by their zombie cult members.
