Biden wades into GOP primary with $25 million ad blitz, starting with economy focus
Source: CNN
President Joe Biden is preparing to blanket the airwaves with a $25 million television and digital ad campaign in battleground states this month as Republicans are set to face off in their first presidential primary debate.
The first minute-long ad, titled Fought Back, which was first obtained by CNN, has an economic focus, marking the campaigns latest effort to improve voter perceptions about Bidens handling of the economy. It also makes explicit reference to Bidens predecessor, former President Donald Trump, as Democrats attempt to tie GOP candidates at this weeks debate to Trumps MAGA agenda.
There are some who say America is failing, a narrator reads as a picture of Trump flashes across the screen. Not Joe Biden. He believes our best days are ahead because he believes in the American people.
The ad blitz represents Bidens latest attempt to convince skeptical Americans that his policies have led to an improving economy, even as 51% of Americans say they think the economy is still in a downturn or getting worse, according to a recent CNN poll.

(7,367 posts)He's done well, but the message is a tough sell. Until rent and wages come back into balance, none of the benefits seem real.

JMHO.

(574 posts)Pres. Biden is doing just fine.
And he can reach out in different ways to get that message out to different people. It saddens me that the sub-urban and rural working poor, who used to flock the democrats, are now the repubs' staunchest supporter, despite the GOP doing nothing positive for them except agree with them or perhaps guide their fears in culture war issues. If they could be convinced to vote their self-interest it could only benefit us.
Biden is doing well. But there is always room for improvement, and I see him as being willing to continue to improve.
Or so it seems to me.

They don't care how much you or I are hurt by their (in)actions. In fact it gives them some joy.
Perhaps this could be a message; but I don't think it should come from the White House...

(7,367 posts)They need to hammer how Republicans want to cut SS, Medicare, etc. And then address the monopolization and manipulation of housing markets by the investor classes.

(13,913 posts)Thats the way to do it - tie all those coward GOP candidates to the Con's agenda. We need a leader of optimism& one who actually has delivered for working families, not the wealthy.

(6,041 posts)when high inflation had Reagan losing in the polls to his potential Democratic rivals in 1983. By 1984, inflation receded, the economy was stronger and Reagan took all the credit, though the Fed did most of the heavy lifting thanks to Jimmy Carter appointing inflation hawk Volcker in 1979. Reagan's popularity soared and he won in a landslide. Joe is hoping to duplicate that feat.
Biden lived through that and is directly emulating that strategy, this time with solid economic policies--not the supply side nonsense that Reagan touted (and had little real effect back then).

The campaign on Sunday announced the 16-week campaign, which marks the third major ad buy since Biden officially announced he would seek a second term.
The campaign will air television ads in major markets in Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It is also running targeted ads focused on Hispanic voters in Florida.
The buy includes both the largest and earliest media buy for a reelection campaign into constituency media ever, as well as the largest overall buy for a reelection campaign at this point in time ever, ensuring that President Bidens message is heard throughout this years Republican primary, the campaign said in a statement.
The states targeted by the ad campaign are all battlegrounds Biden won in 2020, with the exceptions of North Carolina, which he lost by fewer than 100,000 votes, and Florida, which he lost by a wide margin........................................
