Florida approves Black history standards decried as 'step backward'

Source: Washington Post

The Florida State Board of Education approved new rules Wednesday for how Black history will be taught in public schools that critics are decrying as a “step backward.”

The updated standards say students should learn that enslaved people “developed skills” that “could be applied for their personal benefit,” and that in teaching about mob violence against Black residents instructors should note “acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans.”

“These standards are a disservice to Florida’s students and are a big step backward for a state that has required teaching African American history since 1994,” the Florida Education Association (FEA), the state’s largest teachers union, said in a statement.

Education Commissioner Manny Diaz argued at Wednesday’s meeting in Orlando that the changes to the Black history curriculum make it more “robust.”

Start the intense grooming process long before the age of reason while enjoying a tax exempt state you don’t deserve. And when the moment arrives the child realizes IM A CATHOLIC, PRAISE THE LORD. And gives money to the church for the rest of his life.

Perhaps he has French planter-class ancestors from western Hispaniola? Maybe he still remembers what his forebears told him about Cuban slave revolts.

But Texas was never a blue state.

They were Democratic--when the Democratic party there was mostly right wing racists. A bunch of them hung around with the party through the 80s because they were stubborn, not because they were liberals.

Because they weren't.

My mum lived there long enough, and I've had to spend enough time in the state visiting her or my stepsister, to learn for myself that it was always a racist dump.

As an effort by Florida's pissant racist human beings as what it is. An attempt to rewrite the horrors of slavery as beneficial for early African slaves and later generations of oppressed blacks. Tulsa, Wilmington massacre 1898, Ocosee 1920, and Rosewood 1923 were known by our group, just never taught. We taught about discoveries of important things that helped Americans progress, like George Washington Carver's findings/discoveries about peanuts. Thank God people now know what we knew in my early college days. And when Veterans in Education, a college program, tapped me to talk about war and black history right after my return from Vietnam to the young middle school students I studied. So that these truths could try to mute the lies about and of black Americans and help young people find pride in our race which is hated by so many ignorant and willful racists of American origin. Updated programs such as Veterans in Education will overcome white supremacy myths such as Descantswin and the RW nationally are trying to do by burning books and nonsense like this Florida bullshit.

The ancient Greeks in the time of Herodotus knew the truth of the African culture(s) and black civilization that predated their cultures. He and other scribes provided some of the best insights about ancient Black Africa that had predated their civilization, Greek and Roman origin they still eek and Roman. Yet still, they enabled ancient Greeks and Romans to be owed thanks because of the science, architectural design, city planning, mathematics, and sculpture they learned from ancient black African civilizations, and even religion having their genesis in the Land of the Blacks and carried on the culture of discovery found in ancient black history.

Many documents of African history had been destroyed up to that point. Yet these transmissions of truth by Greeks, Romans and Asians about the Land of the Blacks could not be denied. History was to be rewritten by ancient Greeks, Romans and Asians. All those disciplines mentioned above had their origins and were African discoveries. So history goes. And now clowns like racist white supremacists in the mould of Desantcantwin have climbed out of their slime pits wanting to be supreme over all other races with their rewritten and omitted black American history.

The only "skills" they were taught were those that benefited their slave master. They were not allowed to have "personal benefits." They could not have a bank account, own property nor earn a wage. Think of all the skill learning they were deprived of because they could not get an education and were enslaved. They were denied the ability to pursue a skill of their own choosing and for their own benefit. This "personal benefit" propaganda Florida came up with is a total lie and blatant slavery defense. Truly disgusting.
