6-year-old, parents shot in Gaston County; police search for gunman
Source: WSOC TV
Police are looking for a gunman after a 6-year-old girl and her parents were shot Tuesday night in Gaston County. Channel 9′s Ken Lemon learned it all happened over a basketball that rolled into the suspects yard.
[snip]
Neighbors said several young children were playing basketball when the ball rolled down the street and into Robert Singletarys yard. They said Singletary got mad and ran down the street, firing a gun at a neighbor.
They said Singletary then came back, shooting at William White as White ran with his 6-year-old daughter, Kinsley.
Kinsley and her father were seriously hurt. Her mother, Ashley Hilderbrand, was grazed by a bullet and is back home now, but William White is still in the hospital.

(29,795 posts)Why don't people include that in their posts? I clicked on something the other day about a fire in "Franklin County" (one county over from me) and got half way down the text before they mentioned a neighboring town, which I'd never heard of. Looked it up and it was clear across the country.

I think the root of this is that our journalist, like local online news etc...they have folks writing with a 6th grade English level...I remain shocked daily by my local on line new reports...So, the issue is prevalent.

(668 posts)Is the spike in these senseless incidences the Narcissistic Rage we've been warned about? Since Trump voters are psychologically intertwined with trump, and trump is going down rapidly. Perhaps we're seeing the violence towards others associated with Narcissistic Rage?

(6,115 posts)People are constantly fed a diet of fear, and since fear isn't rational, they can't understand that a lot of their fears are not justified. However, with each senseless stupid shooting, their fear gets ramped up even more.
And the country is changing. People fear change. People don't willingly give up power, so when inevitable change results in a shift of power, they get violent.
I do wonder if seeing their cult leader arrested brings out a sense of desperation. They don't want to see that he is a criminal and circumstances are forcing it on them.
The cases we've seen this week are all about people somehow feeling they need to use deadly force against people on their property. A little girl with a basketball. A teenage boy at the wrong house. A car filled with young women backing out of a driveway. School cheerleaders mistaking the wrong car after practice. And these are all kids. Unarmed, non-threatening kids. But the one thing they all have in common is "encroaching" on someone else's property.
So what is it about people that they're so territorial they have to shoot at kids on their property? Is it narcissistic rage? "This is MY PROPERTY, how dare you?"
Their territorial rage is fed by the constant barrage of lies and manufactured fear. And everybody demands to have everything their way; hence, narcissism.
And it should go without saying that more guns = more gun deaths.

(22,032 posts)For shooting a six year old and her family? The desperation of a Trump cult member fearing change and losing power?

(6,115 posts)The shooter was a black man prone to violence. I believe he had a restraining order for hitting his girlfriend in the head with a fucking sledgehammer. He should have never been able to get his hands on a gun, period.
His case illustrates that more guns = more gun violence. I doubt he'd have attacked that little girl and her parents if he wasn't armed, but he had a gun, which made expressing his territorial rage all too easy.

(668 posts)If my theory is true, they would be blindly lashing out, not over territoriality, that's just the trigger.
It's the Narcissistic Injury that's causing them to lash out. I think looking at the various triggers and possible influences is helpful in broader context, but for my theory it's simply overthinking it.
Narcissistic injury is experienced by narcissists when they receive any kind of criticism. This includes any critique that a narcissist perceived as a slight even if it wasnt meant that way. Injury also occurs when a narcissist is faced with judgment, is held accountable, or when boundaries are placed upon them. The narcissist often reacts with anger and rage once an injury is inflicted on them.
Grabbed that off some web site, the Injury described is on trump but his followers are experiencing it too, they are the ones lashing out. Reason has nothing to do with it.

(245 posts)Think about the fact that the neighbor got enraged over a BASKETBALL rolling into his yard and he felt the need to try to kill people over it! Let that marinate in your mind for a bit. How insane of a country have we become? The littlest mistake can get you killed.. Pull into the wrong driveway. Dead! Ring the wrong doorbell. Shot twice! I totally blame the GOP for promoting division and fear and also giving massive access to guns to unstable people.

(4,741 posts)Had a gun on him at the time, he would have shot me for not stopping as long as he demanded at a stop sign. Never mind that I had stopped, and even waited to see what he was going to do, since he didn't have a turn signal on and I've learned not to trust Americans to use them if they plan to make a turn. Apparently that pause wasn't good enough according to an almighty white man intent on putting a woman in her place.
Even if I had rolled through the stop, it's just you and me at a four-way stop in a quiet residential subdivision, you stupid wanker, not a busy road right in front of a school as it's letting out. No need to reverse direction, hunt down my car, and then come to my door and bang on it like an enraged baboon until I call the police.
Some perspective, m'kay?
Too many American men have lost what little of minds they had to begin with.
