Rupert Murdoch, chairman of the conservative media empire that owns Fox News, acknowledged in a deposition that several hosts for his networks promoted the false narrative that the election in 2020 was stolen from former President Donald J. Trump, court documents released on Monday showed.
"They endorsed," Mr. Murdoch said under oath in response to direct questions about the hosts Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo, a legal filing by Dominion Voting Systems said. "I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing it in hindsight."
Mr. Murdoch's remarks, which he made last month as part of the $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox by Dominion, added to the evidence that Dominion has accumulated in an attempt to prove its central allegation: The people running the country's most popular news network knew Mr. Trump's claims of voter fraud during the 2020 election were false but broadcast them anyway.
The new documents and a similar batch released this month revealed that top executives and on-air hosts reacted with incredulity bordering on contempt to the various fictitious allegations about Dominion, including that a secret algorithm in its machines allowed votes to be switched from one candidate to another and that the company was founded in Venezuela to help that country's longtime leader, Hugo Chvez, fix elections.

(26,565 posts). . . Dominions latest filing also described how Paul D. Ryan, a former Republican speaker of the House and current member of the Fox Corporation board of directors, said in his deposition that he had told Mr. Murdoch and Mr. Murdochs son Lachlan, the chief executive officer, Fox News should not be spreading conspiracy theories. Mr. Ryan suggested that the network pivot and move on from Donald Trump and stop spouting election lies.

(39,484 posts)It's a response to Fox, and it came VERY quickly. And it's VERY thorough.
The lawyers had a very good idea what Fox was going to say in its motion, and they were ready for it.

(9,001 posts)found liable for the entire billion plus, plus enough of a punitive judgment on top of that to force Fox "News" and its entire media empire to go belly up.
It's not likely, I know, but I'm entitled to my dreams.

(3,721 posts)since their lies basically destroyed it. the entire value plus future earnings same for smartmatic
1.6B to then and 2.7B to smartmatic. just for actual damages. add5x that for punitive damfges. hit them and their on air liars for every dime they can. I figure 20B is a good number to start

(75,716 posts)I will always remember on 1/4/21 in the AM Ainsley Earhardt said, "Lots of people still
have questions about the election." I saw this as I was channel surfing from MSNBC
(ch 53) up to the weather channel (ch 62) and Fox is @ 55 on my cable. I don't think
"the morning blond" thought that up herself but had it written for her.
I hope this destroys Fox but I doubt it will. I wonder if Fox will cover this story tonight.
Fox is cancer on America. Just yesterday Rupert Murdoch's WSJ was pushing false information
about C-19 coming from a lab in China.

(75,716 posts)Because he thought that had there been "an alternative media" giving out "their facts"
Nixon would never have been forced out of office. You first saw the rise of Fox type of
"reporting" with how Ollie North went from a criminal grifting mother fucker to some kind
of right wing hero.

(75,716 posts).... Nixon's downfall and not the actions of Nixon himself and the gang of shits he
surrounded himself with. Remember it was Fox News that called Florida 2000 for w
and that helped to plunge America and the world into "the shits."

As he pulled his head out of his ass to respond to the lawsuit, he found his hindsight!
A potential loss of 1.6 billion dollars is an expensive way to restore lost vision.
And it does leave one smelling like shit.

Maybe contradict his testimony, thus proving perjury?

(1,250 posts)The knowing, deceitful and purposeful repeated publication of election lies and falsehoods by Fox News which led to civil unrest and a violent insurrection should be grounds for permanent broadcast license revocation by the FCC.
