Kansas GOP picks election conspiracy promoter as new leader

Source: Associated Press/By JOHN HANNA

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Republicans on Saturday narrowly picked an activist who has promoted unfounded election conspiracies and promised a shakeup to lead the Kansas GOP for the next two years, following weeks of infighting that mirrors the acrimony in the party across the U.S.

Within 30 minutes of the change in the Kansas Republican Party’s leadership, its state committee reviewed a resolution demanding that the U.S. House impeach President Joe Biden for “tyranny” over comments he and his aides made in the summer of 2021 decrying misinformation about coronavirus vaccines spreading within the GOP. The committee tabled the resolution until its next meeting.

The Kansas state committee elected Mike Brown, who has long been active in the GOP in the Kansas City area, as its new chair through the 2024 elections. The vote came three months after Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly narrowly won reelection and the only Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation, U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids, won another term handily in her Kansas City-area district.

The Kansas party’s retiring chair, Mike Kuckelman, and its two other Republican National Committee members supported RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel when she won reelection last month. But Brown called on McDaniel to resign in December.

I dont know what will happen, I know we can never go back to sanity. The GOP and half the country now has permission to be the horrible scumbags they have always been.

OH, and it did not have to happen but for a certain segment on the left bashing our 2016 candidate.

Telling the truth is tyranny to a liar and a traitor.

Republicans in KS are the same as those in other states. They don’t know how to lead, govern or manage money but they do know how to scream and shout and shake their fists at people who do. Taking care of your constituents? Fuck that. It’s easier to scare them. Especially if they’re stupid. And we know how much magas love stupid people.

“The committee tabled the resolution?” Cooler heads prevailing?

Mike Brown is a jerk. He will prove it the next time he holds a microphone.

And the state voted itself four fucking years of kris Kobach. Good night Irene.

one Koch brother left. I do not know if he can still travel and be present before all the votes or not but I have to say, watching them from the gallery was probably the worst thing I have ever witnessed. You had to see it for yourself with your own eyes to believe it

Kobach, did you just about die when you saw that vote come in? I simply could not believe it. I know our R's are gluttons for all kinds of horror but really? He will rob us blind again.

His father Fred left him millions. Remind you of anyone? Catch-22 for us with Kobach. He will solidify his totally incompetent and corrupt resume and republicans will cheer him on for doing it.

Yeah let’s revisit abortion after the people spoke in an election which republicans insisted on.

Insanity. Republican is thy name.

...trust a Kanzoid. Lovingly (or not) referred to as "'Zoids" here in Colorado. They invade the state every summer and wander the highways like a pestilence, rubber-necking mobile traffic hazards. Having never seen a curve at home they're at a total loss on how to deal with them. Soon they will be here seeking abortions that will be unobtainable in their flat, fascist empire.

You spot them in their cars, full sized four door sedans of indeterminate color, prairie cruisers. Republican candidate bumper stickers and crosses or "pro-life" admonishments on the back. "Trump won." The old man in a suit and tie, hunched over, death grip on the wheel, a slight glint of spittle at the corner of his mouth. Mom, resplendent in her Sunday dress, cakey make-up and lacquered hair. A back seat full of snot-nosed kids, mishappen faces pressed against the glass, peering out at you like you are the alien.

But just try driving your Colorado plated car east on I-70 from Colorado across the god forsaken wilderness of wheat. Because their Nazi state patrol just knows no one crosses Zoidland recreationally, so you must be transporting evil weed to the their land of purity. They'll tear your car apart, intimidate you, bring in the dogs and plant evidence if they must.

Here's hoping the Eagles destroy their fucking football team and their little racist mascot tomorrow.

With apologies to Dem 'Zoids. I know you're out there. Too bad, like Hercules, you can't clean out the Augean stables.

Rant off.

Hercules did manage to clean those stables out, all he needed to do was divert a river to run through it.
