Jan. 6 rioter who brought two guns to Capitol sentenced to five years in prison

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who brought two guns to the Capitol on Jan. 6, and dropped one of them on Capitol grounds, was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Friday.

Mark Mazza was sentenced to 60 months behind bars by Judge James E. Boasberg. Before he was sentenced, Mazza told the court he got "caught up in a mob mentality that I never anticipated" and that he was "not quite the monster that the prosecution has described me as."

Federal prosecutors said that Mazza, "while armed with [a] .40 caliber loaded firearm, engaged in multiple efforts to break through the police line: he repeatedly pushed against officers using the combined physical exertion of the mob; he armed himself with a stolen police baton and assaulted officers with the baton; he yelled at officers telling them to get out the mob’s way and to 'Get out of our house!'; he held open the door to the tunnel entrance against the resistance of officers, and after being rebuffed, he gathered additional rioters into the tunnel area to continue 'heave-ho' pushes against officers in the doorway."

The government also said that, after Mazza came out of the tunnel, he was nearby as officers including Mike Fanone were assaulted, but that Mazza "did not assault the officers and video appears to show him trying to protect both officers from other rioters who were assaulting them."

""he was "not quite the monster that the prosecution has described me as."
(AW HELL NO, you are that monster)

"He said he felt bad for his children and hoped that his parents won't die before he gets out of federal prison."
(Bet his elderly parents and kids are going to enjoy the trip to the prison & the pat downs/security checks each one of them will have to under go, each visit)

"Although Mazza now admits he lost one of his guns at the U.S. Capitol, he filed a false police report claiming it was stolen back in his home state of Indiana."

It's that he knows not only will he never be allowed to even hold a gun again as long as he lives, all the ones in his house are going into a shredder.

Having said that, the correct sentence for anyone who brought a gun to the Capitol on January 6, 2022, is life without parole in a maximum security federal penitentiary. Charge the bastards with attempted murder because the ONLY reason they would have brought a fucking gun to the Capitol is to kill people.

a few years off of what otherwise should have been an 8-10 year stretch. There has to be some consideration for this and five years will send him a nice enough message.

he was carrying. It can go through 1 person and kill another person behind him or her.

7. Add up the total years that each defendant has been sentenced to
Fri Oct 21, 2022, 03:31 PM
Oct 2022

Multiply it by the number of total defendants eventually arrested, convicted and sentenced in these trials.

That is the sentence that should be given to Donald J Trump, the enabler, the instigator, the traitor.

ATTN Mark Mazza you were lied to by a con man and now your life is over. BTW they don't get info wars,
Fox News, QAnon, or what ever nut ball disinformation TV, radio, or social media network you have been
getting your information from. BTW lots of those black people that you hated so much are in the joint too.

Cassidy Hutchinson; Trump said, ‘I don’t want people to know that we lost’

*****

WASHINGTON —

After the Supreme Court rejected then-President Trump’s election challenge cases, he flew into a rage and insisted that his Chief of Staff Mark Meadows “figure it out,” according to former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

Trump “had said something to the effect of, ‘I don’t want people to know that we lost Mark, this is embarrassing, figure it out, I don’t want people to know that we lost,’ ” Hutchinson recalled during video testimony played during Thursday’s Jan. 6 select panel hearing.

Trump kept repeating that he didn’t “want people to know that we lost,” Hutchinson said, adding that the president was “fired up” and “raging” after learning of the Supreme Court’s decision.

if their traitor leader was indicted, tried, found guilty and got a sentence equal to every single sentence handed to every single one of his henchmen. That would be justice.

16. Happy to hear. BUT, not happy about SCOTUS decision about State carry laws. I live in NJ and

before SCOTUS decision on restrictive State carry laws, NJ would only issue about 2,0000 carry permits a year. Carrying a gun in NJ without a permit would get 1st offenders at least 1, and possible 3 1/2 years state prison sentence. I was in superior court last week for the 2nd time since Covid. We held Zoom court sessions during Covid so o walk into the courthouse and it look like a Trump rally. There must've been 150 men lurking in the hallway and I start to hear them talking about the NRA. A real motley group of Trump looking guys. So I go into my quart room and asked Sheriff Officer what the deal was with the guys in the hallway and he tells me they are appeals by men denied carry permits. I suspect for every 1 denied probably 10 granted. Makes me sick that I have to worry about my kids and wife now with all these nuts carrying guns. I'm a criminal defense lawyer and never needed a gun, now looks like we will all need one. Fucking Republican SCOTUS, I wish them nothing but misery and hope they personally suffer for creating a country like this.

Yep. You’re definitely a monster. After you’ve served your far-too-short sentence, do everyone a favor and go to Hell.
