Biden improving but taking additional medication to treat Covid, White House doctor says

Source: CNN

(CNN)President Joe Biden's Covid-19 symptoms "have improved," his physician said Friday, but the President has taken additional medications to address his temperature and cough. Dr. Kevin O'Connor said in a letter that Biden had a temperature of 99.4 degrees Thursday evening, which was treated with Tylenol. He is also being treated with an albuterol inhaler "that he uses as needed," O'Connor said, as well as "oral hydration." His temperature has remained normal since then," O'Connor wrote.

Biden's symptoms continue to be a runny nose and fatigue. The President had a dry cough earlier Thursday, but he now has "an occasional non-productive, now 'loose' cough," O'Connor wrote. The President continues to take Paxlovid, Pfizer's antiviral drug. O'Connor confirmed that Biden has stopped using previously prescribed medications Crestor and Eliquis "during Paxlovid treatment and for several days after his last dose." O'Connor reiterated in his Friday letter that he anticipates "that (Biden) will respond favorably," to treatment.

Biden will continue to isolate and be monitored "closely" by the White House medical unit. hite House coronavirus coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha also told John Berman on CNN's "New Day" earlier Friday that Biden's symptoms remained mild as of Thursday night, suggesting that the President's symptoms were "basically the same." "I got an update last night at 10:00 p.m. and he was doing just fine," he said. Jha added that he would touch base with the White House medical team and speak with the President "directly this morning."

"The symptoms were basically the same -- again, he's got a little runny nose, he's got a bit of a dry cough," Jha said. Asked again whether any of Biden's symptoms were getting worse, Jha told CNN, "Nope. As of 10:00 p.m. last night, no. It was the same symptoms, about the same level of mildness." Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday morning, becoming the second US president to contract the virus during the two-and-a-half year pandemic. In a video posted to Twitter, Biden told Americans that he is "doing well" and that he was continuing to work while in isolation at the White House.

with thousands of people, it's a wonder they both were able to escape it this long.

symptoms 'continue to improve'

President Joe Biden likely caught the contagious Omicron BA.5 COVID variant, according to White House doctor Kevin O'Connor.

"The president's causative agent is most likely the BA5 variant," the president's physician said in a memo released Saturday. "This is the SARS-CoV-2 variant which is responsible for 75-80% of infections in the United States at this time. This data does not affect the treatment plan in any way."

O'Connor said Biden is experiencing symptoms like a sore throat and a cough but they "continue to improve."

"His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain entirely normal," the memo reads. "His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear."

I am sure they did a sequencing of it when doing the PCR, just to confirm either way!

think anyone with Covid should take the meds no matter how mild the case seems...I was sick to my stomach for two days and tired in the 8 days that followed...but then all hell broke loose...blood flow was restricted in my left kidney due to a blood clot, I also had clots in my stomach, covid pneumonia, A-Fib, a heart murmur (two leaky valves) and suffered a mild heart attack...so now I have an enlarged heart -also damaged in other ways. I am on seven different prescription medications. Pre-Covid, I took no prescription medicine. The cardiologists say some of Covid's heart issues often go away with time. I hope so. Time will tell. Take the Medicine and follow up with your doctor when you think it is over. Let my mistakes help you or someone else.

I actually got a brain scan because I thought I had a brain tumor. The scan showed nothing but it’s lowered my quality of life significantly.
