GM recalls nearly 682,000 SUVs; windshield wipers can fail

Source: AP

DETROIT (AP) — General Motors is recalling nearly 682,000 compact SUVs because the windshield wipers can fail.

The recall covers the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain from the 2014 and 2015 model years.

Ball joints in the wiper module can rust, causing one or both wipers to fail, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the module and repair or replace it if needed. Owners will be notified by letter starting May 2.

What kind of suppliers are they using, what type of cost-cutting are they deciding upon?

and GM screws them up. It probably saved them $1 a vehicle. Like in the video posted on DU a day or
two ago about the Corvair they saved $20.

Locate them, check condition, add a blob of grease to keep water and snow out.

One at the motor, one at each blade pivot. (I imagine - fairly common set up.)

Every time I get a recall notice, I check whatever the item is, if ok, I ignore the recall.

It didn't fail, but it broke. Other than that, the car has been great!
