"Will You Chirp As Hard As You Can?" (This question will make sense in just a minute)

I want to encourage everyone on Saturday to join in what will probably be the largest protest in America’s history. I hope you’ll come out and peacefully oppose the cruelty, dishonesty and unconstitutionality that represents the GOP/ Trump Administration. Once again it’s time to make our voices heard!

We live in a fairly red city and my friends and I have been to all of the protests in recent years and they have been fun! (Honestly, we had a great time, 5 of 5 stars, will go again). They have been family affairs where children in strollers, to elders in wheelchairs and everyone in between have come on out to make a statement.

Please remember, protesting is just the first step and functions primarily as performance art. Protests will draw attention and a huge protest will send a huge message to the Orange Menace. To make changes in our electoral system we need to do more than just chirp loudly, luckily it’s not hard.

In a planter on our patio we had a bird’s nest of dark eyed Juncos. When we walked out on our patio these small birds flew out of their nest and started chirping as hard as they could.

Regrettably, their chirping is basically performance art and did nothing to stop the crows who swooped in and ate their eggs.

In order to bring about change, remember, protests are the first big step. What we need to do next is fairly simple. We don’t need to bench press 350 pounds or run a mile in under 4 minutes.

What we need to do is make phone calls, drop off literature at our neighbors’ homes, invite neighbors into our homes to meet our favorite candidates, donate money and write letters. Almost everyone who is reading this can do something to bring about positive change.

The election season is a marathon, it does not end after a 2 hour sprint on a Saturday. But on Saturday, I’m asking you all to join in this first step which will send a message to the administration. I invite you all to chirp as hard as you can, but don’t stop there.

Please get involved in your local, state and national elections because there are many more of us who care about our constitution. We remember the separation of powers, we remember the war powers act, we remember tax cuts for the ultra wealthy and WE ALL KNOW giving billions of our tax dollars to fund a huge private army is not right! We remember that we the people are supposed to be in charge!

Together, one step forward at a time, we can bring back coherent foreign policy that is not an international embarrassment. We can bring back honesty and integrity and we can bring back an America we can be proud of.
