Normally, I dont waste my time commenting on Rush Limbaugh because he is a SLIMEY, VILE, LECHEROUS, RIGHT WING MEDIA MONGREL who is not worthy of SANE commentary! Oh, Im sorry was I too harsh? Did I cross the line? Well, for two days LIMBAUGH CROSSED THE LINE WITH RABID RANTS demonizing Democratic witness, Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University student, who was DENIED the right to speak at Tea Partied Republican Congressman Darrel Izzas RELGIOUSLY ALL MALE Fabrication Committee contraception hearing. Nevertheless, Democratic House members allowed Ms. Fluke to give her testimony to reporters. According to a huffington post.com article Fluke told the story of one of her classmates who lost an ovary because Georgetown, a Jesuit University, did not cover the oral contraceptives that she was prescribed for her condition.
Rush stuffed himself into his radio SLIME show chair and issued the following statement about Ms. Flukes testimony: What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex what does that make her? It makes her a slut right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. Shes having so much sex she cant afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. As if that wasnt enough, the next day Rush added insult to injury stating So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, heres the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch!!!!
NOT ONE values preaching, morals testifying, holier than thou 2012 Republican presidential candidate, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representative, religious Fabrication Committee testifier or Catholic Bishop issued a statement of rebuke regarding Rushs VALUELESS, IMMORAL, FILTHIER THAN THOU tirade against Ms. Fluke.
The only sanctimonious decree issued by the morally righteous contraception warriors was - SILENCE!

(31,706 posts)There are a couple things at play here. Firstly, Rushbo hopes for a lot of outrage...it gets him attention. Be assured his audience (which has been sinking like a rock in recent years) will be pumped up today as people will want to hear what outrageous thing comes out of his piehole. He needs those ratings as talk radio...and in specific hate radio...has done poorly in the "People Meter" age and its this kind of outburst in the past that's helped rushbo get attention and turn it into ratings and money. His owners...Bain Capital...are desperate for both...seeing billions they've spent on radio properties sink into quicksand. They need to turn hate radio into a lightning rod that attracts ears of all sorts and they don't care how over-the-top rushbo goes. John Hogan...new CEO of Cheap Channel is scared shit of rushbo and any political shitstorm that would follow any actions taken against him....and rushbo knows it.
The other game at play is the downward spiral of rushpublican politics where the more outrageous the more attractive a candidate becomes to the great unhinged who are a large percentage of the rushpublican vote. Not only will no one dare to speak out against rushbo...and those that do will do it in the most tepid fashion...they're quietly encouraged by this knowing that he's got their flank...taking the heat while they go on spewing about destroying social security, making it difficult for a woman not only to get a safe abortion but any health care at all and now attacking the educated as being the "elite". They don't sound as goofy compared to what blows out of rushbo.
Rushbo and corporate radio are in a deep embrace...he's destroyed so much of what used to be local full service and talk radio and led the way to the nationally syndicated bile that dominates much radio today...and the corporates have no alternative.

(39,961 posts)He'll say anything to make a buck, and if he quit radio right now, he's still got his. He's the leader of the Republican party for all intents and purposes, and has been so for two decades. Fox News has some of that mantle, but most of it comes down to Limbaugh. He's vile enough that he makes some of the folks on Fox News sound sane.
I mean, seriously, I don't like Bill O'Reilly, but he's down right polite compared to the likes of Limbaugh, and sane compared to nut jobs like Glen Beck. That's how they turn even hard right wingers into sounding sane - comparatively, they are next to the vile and the crazy.
