NY-06: Queens' incumbent Meng wins Congressional primary

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Grace Meng clinched the District 6 Democratic primary after securing nearly 57% of the vote in the race against challenger Chuck Park.

“I feel great,” Meng said to her supporters at an election night watch party in Flushing. “I’m very grateful to the community — everyone worked really hard. It was a rainy day, but I think we really showed our love for the community, and that they want me to continue to do the work that I’ve been doing.”

As of 10:25 p.m., Meng has received 18,080 (56.9%) votes compared to Chuck Park, her opponent, who received 13,625 (42.8%). That is a 14.1% difference in votes.

The watch party – held at Prime Met Steakhouse in downtown Flushing – was filled with a sea of blue-and-orange shirts in honor of the Knicks that say “Grace Meng for Congress.” Cheers could be heard throughout the rooftop when the Associated Press called the race at 9:19 p.m.
