Idaho releases protocol for execution by firing squad (KXLY TV)July 1st, firing squad will become the primary method for carrying out the death penalty. It's the first state to have the firing squad as a primary form; four other states have firing squad as a secondary option.
The state passed legislation making this change, after encountering several issues carrying out executions by lethal injection.

Well not really. The good old days would be death by hanging, but you can't have everything at once.

(6,695 posts)The Chinese had though (and maybe still have) the most reliable and fast means of execution - a single bullet to the nape of the neck. Bullet shatters brain stem and results in instant loss of consciousness and death.
Ironically however, lethal injection has replaced it in many areas (I don't imagine though the Chinese executioners have any trouble obtaining proper lethal injection drugs and training for their use).

Fast and painless. Seems superior to botched deaths by injection.
I ask capital punishment fans what they want for their last meal, since they just confessed to premeditated murder, after I make them admit that innocent people get executed.

(6,695 posts)Good approach to those capital punishment advocates. I still recall Dubya Bush, when he was governor of Texas IIRC, that he was 100% sure that all those on death row in Texas were guilty. A bizarre statement, particularly in view of the Innocence Project estimating at one point that about 25% of those on death row in the US were innocent or wrongly sentenced
