On Father's Day, the Trump Org put out a curious bit of propaganda.
While the Daily Beast spun it as yet another snub to Don, Jr., it is really a much more calculated effort IMO to prop up the person they have determined is the next mantle-bearer of the family grift-machine.
The piece carries this on-brand-arrogant title:
"A Fathers Day Tribute
Like Father,
Like Builder
Eric Trump growing up alongside the greatest dealmaker in America and what it means to carry that legacy forward."
It is very very difficult to read this piece as anything other than a campaign ad. The effusive praise and constant comparisons to his father are vomit-inducing, but they really show how hard the family is trying to put forth Eric as the only true alternative to continue on the family legacy. Allowing the MAGA mantle to go to anyone else would mean losing the cash cow of grift and corruption--and they really can't have that.
It even highlights his supposed philanthropy--even though we know that's not really something these people do:
"His philanthropic record reinforces this. At just 22 years old, Eric founded what began as the Eric Trump Foundation, a charity built around his family's golf courses and a singular mission: fighting pediatric cancer. Over the years it grew into something far larger than its origins, raising more than $60 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A state-of-the-art Surgical ICU at St. Jude carries his name in recognition of that commitment. Today, that foundation has evolved into Curetivity, a broader platform continuing the fight against childhood cancer with the same urgency Eric brought to it from the very beginning. These are not the gestures of someone playing at generosity. They are the actions of a man who decided early on that success carries with it an obligation to others and has never stopped honoring that obligation."
Would a simple Father's Day tribute really include this kind of thing?
It is clear now that MAGA isn't going to truly get behind JD or "little Marco"--let's just be real--so, who better than a person with the gilded T on their last name to begin the process of becoming the heir to the family political legacy?
I guess luckily for them--but not for us--Eric doesn't carry the baggage or outright ridiculousness of JR.
The piece ends this way: "Eric Trump is not merely the beneficiary of his father's legacy. He is its keeper, its engine, and its next great chapter."
Whatever the eventual outcome, this "article" is clearly a shot over the bow of anyone else clamoring for the endorsement of the cult leader. The decision has clearly been made. We might as well prepare now....

And, it may not matter if Eric is actually ever elected so long as he can rake in the campaign contributions and be the next king-maker.
Politics is the only business they've figured out how to make real money from, and they desperately do not want that to go away.

(1,121 posts)...to take a third term by force his health is not going to allow it, so he is looking around for someone in the family to take up the grift. Allowing anyone outside of the family to take the MAGA mantle would mean losing control over the GQP and the political power and cash cow that the MAGA movement have provided.
Eric is the only hope. And this piece shows the lengths they are going to go to in order to fuel his future career in both business and politics.

(1,121 posts)I see no other reason to put this much effort into fluffing up Eric on Father's Day other than as a test run for a media campaign to prop him up as the next MAGA leader in the family.
Dumb has never been a barrier in the Turnip family.
And, it is actually highly questionable that anyone is dumber than Donny.
He also doesn't have to have a future in politics per se--just the ability to endlessly grift off of the name.
This "article" reads like a fledgling campaign ad.

(5,348 posts)I would like to see the receipt from St. Jude validating a $60 million donation from Eric Trump. Lets be real here, we wont see a $60 million dollar receipt from St. Jude for all the Trump members combined.
Of course, we would probably see that amount identified as a charitable donation on their income tax filing.

(1,121 posts)[REDACTED] can't relinquish MAGA.
Narcissists latch onto something to fill their empty soul, and for [REDACTED] that is his perceived love from the coalition of fools and racists that comprise MAGA. He didn't get it from his parents, his family, or those that he employed, but he found it in people that will invade the capitol over his self-serving lies.
That is why he has pushed more MAGA figures out of his Administration in favor of lightweights like JD and "little Marco." He has even pushed away MAGAlytes like MTG in Congress.
Whether he actually knows it or not he is sabotaging the MAGA movement in order to be the only true leader of the cult. The only acceptable replacement for himself will be a descendent--like Eric.
MAGA will not turn out for JD or Marco in the same numbers they have for him--and that is just fine with him. In his twisted mind he and MAGA are one in the same. To turn that over to someone else would be to make himself irrelevant in that world--something his ego cannot handle.
2028 will be dominated by the ego of Turnip if he is still alive--almost ensuring a Democratic victory.
The message coming out of Turnip.org is that the only logical person to take up the mantle after [REDACTED] exits the scene is Eric.
Unfortunately we have seen that is is possible that we end up with a Turnip in the White House no matter how egregiously awful and stupid they are. We need to prepare and act accordingly.

(1,121 posts)...underestimate the stupidity and the fealty that MAGA has to their dear leader.
It is easy to dismiss him, but when you read the piece they put out and look more into his shady dealings--the charity he runs for example--you begin to realize that he is a lot like his father but with many more years ahead of him and as far as we know far fewer sex and business scandals hanging around his neck. We would be foolish not to take it seriously and begin now to undermine what could be coming.
