"Free Speech" huh? I got completely booted off Twitter

I wasn’t doing or posting anything that I wouldn’t do on DU. I was trolling MAGA influencers but only with published and reported facts … and some memes (like on DU) …. but that’s it.

Surprisingly, the phrase "free speech" is not limited to the First Amendment.

Elon Musk proclaimed himself a "free speech absolutist".

Comparisons between the self-description and what happens on Twitter seem entirely apt.

That's why he champions (encourages?) the right of Nazi's and racist's to post freely on X. It doesn't neccessariy have anyting to do with the First Amendment. He didn't say he lost his First Ammendment rights, I think he was more caling out Musk's hypocrisy.

DU is a small platform openly dedicated to a single issue: electing Democrats. Twitter is the largest communication platform in the world, and its owner, the wealthiest man in the world, helped get Trump elected and led the effort to destroy federal agencies.

Twitter banning people for the kinds of things they post on DU is chilling.

It's weird to me that you don't see the difference.

How many members does a site need before they aren't allowed to ban people? Reddit, Facebook, Bluesky all ban people.

And you're taking the poster's word they didn't say anything they couldn't say here. Without seeing the post(s) in question, that's a leap of faith.

... totally devoid of any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Being a completely amoral psychopath is how he got so rich. You can fling all manner of poo at Dems and progressives on X, but whisper the slightest criticism of conservative snowflakes and you're gone.
The lines to piss on his grave will be long, indeed, so get your tickets now!

on private forums. Think about who owns what used to be Twitter. He can do whatever he wants. It's his website.

Just go somewhere else. I canceled my account on Twitter the day Musk walked in carry8ing a kitchen sink.

The point is the hypocrisy.

Elon proclaimed himself a free speech absolutist. He is not.

Simple as that.

Nobody on this thread, that I can see, is claiming that there is some sort of prohibition against Musk censoring.

It is, however, noteworthy that he's the one who claimed to be reestablishing unbridled free speech.

I actually do not think this is such a difficult concept.
