then click on post photo or video if you have it saved in your computer, find the pic in your files, click to open it and it shows up on imgur.

THEN at the top of your photo it says "copy link" with 3 dots. click on the dots.
THEN it says "edit" "get share links" "download image" and click on "get share links"
THEN it shows link options. you want the 3rd one down, "BBCode Forums" - click on that & it copies the link
FINALLY come back here and paste the link.

32. are you doing this from a phone or your computer?

i know there have been a lot of pictures i wanted to save to my computer to post but when i right click on the photo and do the "save image as" they don't always open in my file as a JPEG or PNG which seems are the only types i have that imgur takes. sometimes the pictures come up as WEBP file and i can't do shit with those unless i manage to copy it into a "paint" program i have and then try to save it from there.

Now, even though I have uploaded maybe 50-60 pics (most all jpeg) to Imgur over the last couple of years, and was able to post pics into DU many many times, now the pictures don't show up in Imgur. All I see in Imgur is a bunch of colored boxes where the pics ought to be but aren't, but I can read the pic title. I see the same colored squares on my iPhone 17, and on my iMac using the Safari and/or Chrome browsers. Imgur seems to have changed the user interface significantly. It looks very different from what I recall.

It's ok I guess that I can no longer post a pic to DU. Fortunately quite a number of DU users are not experiencing this problem, so at least it's good to be able to see them.

Free images works for a little while, but if an image gets really popular it fails and demands that the hosting account be switched to premium. I think the applicable phrase is bait-and-switch.

They should be avoided for posting to DU (or anywhere else).

44. Nobody in the UK will ever see an IMGUR image nowadays.

That host blocked UK users about six months or so ago. There have been a number of OPs about it since then.

The site I used has been the one recommended by the mods.

Please don't recommend IMGUR. That host blocks users in the UK from seeing anything other than a blue box.

I've no idea why the other links in this OP and under it are showing up as blue boxes for US-based DUers, but please bear in mind your frustration the next time you post an OP that's just an IMGUR link.

Those in the UK will only see a blue box. Even a little explanation of what we're supposed to be seeing/are missing out on seeing would be better than nothing.
