EXCLUSIVE: Congress Launches Probe into Trump White House Consideration of Suspending Habeus Corpus

Just two days after a blockbuster New York Times report said White House adviser Stephen Miller had flouted the idea of suspending the constitutional right of Habeus Corpus in some deportation cases, a US House committee has launched an investigation into the matter.

In a memo sent Wednesday morning to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Rep. Robert Garcia, a California Democrat who serves as the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, has requested a series of records on the matter. The inquiry, which was obtained by Meidas Touch Network, has demanded copies of “All memoranda regarding the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus and all memoranda regarding the Insurrection Act, as well as any documents, records, and communications regarding the invocation of the Insurrection Act or the suspension of habeas corpus.”
