NY-13: Espaillat and Avila Chevalier trade blows in combative debate
Rep. Adriano Espaillat’s case is straightforward: He has the experience and the record serving the 13th Congressional District, which covers upper Manhattan and parts of the Bronx.
“I have been in the neighborhood all along during our most difficult times,” he said during Tuesday night’s debate on NY1.
But his much younger opponent, Darializa Avila Chevalier, says the status-quo isn’t working.
“I am someone who has been organizing for over 14 years in our community,” she said. “And I have to ask: Have things gotten better in our community under our current leadership?”
