I'm crying watching Lawrence, Kansas welcome the Algerian football team to the U.S. Why can't it always be like this?

Such hospitality. Such warmth and love. Such excitement for people meeting each other who otherwise might not have had the opportunity.

This is the United States I want us to be. The United States we could be.

Anyway, I needed some joy, and this was it...

It may be cosmopolitan in its tiny footprint, but go 3-4 miles in any direction and say hello to rural America. Kansas City has its blue areas tho.

Lived in Lawrence from 1966-1975 - good times and bad times. We had two students shot by the National Guard around the same time as Kent State.

By bloodthirsty propagandists, corrupt and greedy billionaires, and of course, the asshole in chief himself.

We are better than they are. We can beat them. We've done it before. We can do it again.
