I love that the focus is on the politician EARNING trust, faith and support rather than what I sometimes feel is an expectation that the Democratic base are the ones that have to GIVE trust, faith and support as if it's simply expected and politicians don't have to work to gain it.
More of this please as the midterm campaigning begins. I think it's a good thing for candidates to acknowledge. The onus is on them if they want our support. It will help bring back many who have become disillusioned I think.

Democrats earn votes. Why would anyone think they don't, or that they don't know it or say it? Messages targeted at the Democratic base with angry "take my vote for granted" "they ignore you/turn their backs on you" is done to decrease votes and worked in the last election.

(29,528 posts)because it's your time and I hope you'll join me on this journey." Hillary announcing her run for president, earning votes is right there in the first thing she said as a candidate.
All Democrats know and say they have to earn votes.

(79,529 posts)Though I haven't heard his speech yet, I did get a good number of phone calls yesterday evening. The line I kept hearing from them went something like he wants to be the Senator for those who cannot afford to buy one.

(8,297 posts)I always felt he is a great speaker, but worried if he was able to control his weaknesses. His speech says to me that he recognizes the seriousness of the trust being placed in him, and he's committed to the challenges ahead.
With the demons under control, he is The Kraken. Onward and upward.

(58,464 posts)Earning trust is pretty standard stump speech stuff for Dems. Kamala Harris spoke of it a lot, but it didnt help her.
