I'm bothered by the belittling of trump in China.

This is horrible for our country and the world.
I can't stand that SOS President we have, but I feel like this world is going to go down fast after that and his dumb-ass attack on Iran.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, in that he destroys everything he touches. But that visit was not good for the future of the planet and the freedom of people.

Exposing the idiot we’ve become accustomed to in front of the whole world is both embarrassing and worrisome for the USA.

It’s unbelievable how deep incompetence penetrates the whole administration now, they’re all arrogant morons.

UnAmerican. And now the world knows.

dictator reprobate. A CRIMINAL self serving grifter responsible for grief and chaos, at home and abroad. A divider, a racist and bigot who appeals to and inspires the lowest of the low.

HARM would be done to our country and the world if world leaders and people VALIDATED his abominations and atrocities.

We need KNOW what the world thinks of him, and of US for abiding it.

If the rest of the world thinks Trump is just a bad joke, the world will think the same of the US.

And act accordingly.

Remember the 'bad smell in the room' response from Queen Elizabeth when Trump went to England, the looks of disdain he got from the Pope?

Why should China's leadership be any different?

(Upon re-reading my post, I don't know how to make it sound less vitriolic. I have no animosity towards you, OP. I'm certain that you want the best for humanity as do all of us here at DU (except for the occasional troll that MIRT is so effective at weeding out.))

There are plenty of US citizens who detest trump. None of us have been effective at preventing his onslaught.

And you express concern at China belittling him? You want China to "respect his authoritah"?

Which analogy works best? The Emperor's New Clothes? China would be the one pointing out that the emperor has no clothes. Would you rather China pretend the king has clothes and afford him the dignity of his title rather than his actions?

In my opinion, the focus should be on why so many citizens voted for an obvious piece of shit. You might think those voters are redeemable. I don't know. I hope they can learn. USA is not over yet, but, it absolutely will be if voters choose racism, bigotry, and greed over a working society.

My non sequitur response is to quote Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Well, I can't direct quote him because I don't speak German. But these two thoughts are attributed to him:

"Upon closer observation, it becomes apparent that every strong upsurge of power in the public sphere, be it of a political or a religious nature, infects a large part of humankind with stupidity. … The power of the one needs the stupidity of the other. The process at work here is not that particular human capacities, for instance, the intellect, suddenly atrophy or fail. Instead, it seems that under the overwhelming impact of rising power, humans are deprived of their inner independence and, more or less consciously, give up establishing an autonomous position toward the emerging circumstances. The fact that the stupid person is often stubborn must not blind us to the fact that he is not independent. In conversation with him, one virtually feels that one is dealing not at all with him as a person, but with slogans, catchwords, and the like that have taken possession of him. He is under a spell, blinded, misused, and abused in his very being. Having thus become a mindless tool, the stupid person will also be capable of any evil and at the same time incapable of seeing that it is evil. This is where the danger of diabolical misuse lurks, for it is this that can once and for all destroy human beings."

also:

“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. . ."

I'm not a fan of "only my tribe can call out the stupid in my tribe".

The OP's point, as I read it, is that it's an ominous sign for the future of the U.S. when our president is openly mocked by another nation during a diplomatic trip.

The point is that Trump is destroying the U.S.

China has been making their case to be the greatest superpower. So what does the US do? The elect a person to burn the country down

China did two things. 1. let the idiot speak and embarrass the US and the free world. 2. Have Xi draw a line in the sand.

The big loser in all of this will be Taiwan.
