It’s one thing to call a seat R+3 or R+5… but the Republican won those two seats by 10-15 points. That takes a “wave” to undo. It could happen, but there’s really only one endangered red seat (that they won by 5 Points)

At the same time - redistricting was intended to strengthen two blue seats that were even closer.

There’s no spinning this one. It’s pretty devastating (if entirely predictable)

5. Devastating?

No it isn’t. You know what’s devastating? Attribution of what appear to be minor to moderate setbacks to a pattern of LOSING. You know who never does this? Republicans.

That’s how they reemerge from catastrophe: they lick their wounds for 2 or 3 days and come back with redoubled efforts. When are we gonna learn how to respond and put our pedal to the floor?

Enuf pearl-clutching.

“Devastating” is when your candidate dies in a car crash two weeks before an election. And you know what? If you’re a Republican, you find an advantage in that occurrence, blame the “Democrat” Party (sic and sick) and move on and quite possibly win posthumously.

Represents a likely ten seat swing. Given how narrow the house has been for a few years now..: that’s a huge impact

Insurmountable? Of course not. A normal off-year result would still give us a majority. But it’s still “something that causes severe damage”

I’m positing that the Republican Party lost twice to a black guy, and I didn’t hear that word uttered once by one of their elected officials or commentators.

We fart in a thunderstorm and “all is lost”! Alas!

You’re the one pretending that I meant “all is lost”

How about “a gut punch”?
