Do not forget that tomorrow is the Post Office Food Drive. The carriers will pick up your donated none-perishable food items set out by your mailbox. Mine and several of the other tenants' are set to go.

(133,783 posts)and my donation has always been picked up. The PO in my neighborhood had a big sign about the drive when I was in there last Saturday.

(2,076 posts)I went to Dollar Tree and filled them both. A lot of canned items with pop tops so no can opener needed (ravioli, spaghetti w/meatballs, molasses baked beans, Vienna sausages), boxes of crackers with tuna and chicken salad, fruit cups, Jello cups, big bottles of flavored water with electrolytes, bags of beef jerky pieces, etc...). It all came to about $38.00.
l don't really have extra money to throw around, but I'm not homeless or going hungry and I feel for those who are.
The bags are pretty heavy, so I reinforced each yellow food drive bag with two Dollar Tree plastic bags from the purchase so that hopefully they won't rip.
I'll need to do something nice for the mail carrier, as she's surely going to get a workout tomorrow.

(1,791 posts)Glad he did. I had some items I hadn't distributed to the local blessing boxes, so we had some good variety, plus we put in some canned vegs from the pantry. I'm hoping I can get out and about next week to fill up the local blessing boxes (our local libraries have drop off areas, too, very easy to put stuff there). I may still be too weak, but we'll see.
