All this arguing over conspiracy theories is the direct result of

10+ years of fucking gaslighting by this piece of shit administration.

He has successfully sown confusion and chaos into the psyche of this country.

Look at what is happening here. We're turning on each other. There are accusations flying back and forth between our own kind.

For what? It's fucking useless.

We don't have the answers, and there should be no fighting about this.

Personally, I don't know if it was a set up or not. We can all take a position on the matter, and conflicting positions may or may not be valid. Who really knows?

I do find it ironic that kids are getting shot to fucking pieces in schools, and the media is covering this 24/7 like he almost died.

Fuck that piece of human garbage.

I don't give a shit about what almost happened to him. I just want him out of the White House.

They're just too cold-blooded.

It can make good, caring people very confused,
angry, and depressed.

... if it was staged, what a fucking surprise...these guys are sloppy idiots.

... if it was not staged, well, ok then, security took care of a security risk that was really not much of a risk. That is their job that they are doing every day. Good job security... now can we please move on?

It is all so infuriating...

One side says "Given that Trump lies constantly, and that the media is willing to echo-chamber anything he says, several key elements of The Official Story don't add up."

The other side says "You're stupid and crazy."

Trump doesn’t get all the blame.

The willingness to unquestioningly accept conspiracy theories is also due in part to some folks’ inability to cope with the uncertainty and lack of information the follows in the aftermath of a critical incident such as Saturday’s.

In this internet age, people expect to know all there is to know about something, immediately.

When that doesn’t happen, people will often simply make up an answer based on assumption, vibes, or biases, but not facts, to fill in the gaps in their understanding, or accept someone else’s made up answer, and then declare it to be the absolute truth, and insist others accept that truth as well. This relieves the anxiety over the uncertainty and not knowing. It becomes tribal, believers vs unbelievers.

Indeed anxiety driven by uncertainty can lead to hasty or poorly justified conclusions.

Equally, uncertainty can incline a particular type of person to latch onto an accepted narrative while attacking any other viewpoint and/or the people who might hold that viewpoint.

Strange days.

People think both sides, don't vote, but Republican base always votes, especially the base base evangelicals. Add voter suppression and gerrymandering and ratfucking and the tendency of people to vote on one issue manipulated against Democrats -- they win or elections are very close.

Man with gun in the wrong place upsetting people.

Shots fired.

Man apprehended.

Demonization of man with gun commenced.

Trump makes it all about himself. Add a 25th level to the piled up distractions!

What we don't know:

Who fired the shots? Super Secret Service agents or the shotgun guy?
(They do sound quite different to those who know.)

. . . and as always, the 'we don't know' part breeds conspiracies.

Enjoy!

I'm still waiting for the day that the 'almost a bad thing happened to Donald' becomes 'a bad thing happened to Donald.'
