(12,598 posts)Some standoff weapons can be launched from up to 70 miles away from the target, the pilot or weapons operator would just enter the coordinates given.

(2,508 posts)Once orders get filtered down to the actual units carrying them out, all they may know is what coordinates are getting hit, and not know the actual target or status of it. Specific intelligence like that is need to know. And pilots don't need to know all the time. They just need coordinates, timing, and other engagements parameters.
