In light of today's multiple incorrect stories regarding a supposed health crisis for Donald Trump (while he was apparently actually overseeing a highly complex search and rescue operation for an airman downed in Iran). Was today basically a beta test mass hysteria event? I don't know, but it certainly felt like it. While this might sound like a small issue, it is NOT. If this same kind of running with false information were to happen during an election, there is no telling what kind of damage we as a party could inflict upon ourselves. For this reason, I ask some of you to reflect upon your trusted news sources. Based on the events of today, some of these are likely not what you think they are.

The Hindustan Times picked it up, then the Palmer Report, but it was nothing more than, "Trump hasn't been seen for 24 hours. He must be dying. He must be at Walter Reed".

Thanks for the maps in that thread, showing the traffic around Walter Read. It was good to see real time data confirming it was mostly rumor mills.
The assumption at this point is that given his giant ego, penchant for blabbing every other minute about something completely incoherent, and his seemingly worsening health, people want to assume the best when hes not heard from in over a day.

You think he had a clue whats going on?
He was shitting his pants worrying that if the airmen died or got captured it would make him look bad. Thats it.

(79,071 posts)that the felon said he thinks he should be considered as being of the same mold as President Kennedy. At the very least, he should be impeached, tried, and convicted by the Senate, before being criminally charged for even saying that. There are many very good reasons that the thoughts and prayers of millions of citizens were not for a recovery. But far be it from me to disagree with the scolding tone of the OP. So I'm going to yell at everyone for wishing he was dead or dying, for that doesn't fully address the necessary consequences of his comparing himself to JFK.
Remember this, you gosh darned extra bad people hoping he croaked: the maga would insist he rose on the third day, and it would almost be like they are a fucking insane cult ...... and we don't want that, now, do we? For it might be far too close to being exactly how it is now. Get it?
Gosh, one thing that happened during Kennedy's presidency had a stroke. It didn't kill him immediately. But it did reduce him, left him in a wheelchair, unable to speak or write. That must have been a frustrating time for him, poor old guy. It's the kind of thing you'd only wish upon some cruel, vicious sociopath that posed a threat to this country. At least that's what I think.

(79,071 posts)He compared himself to JFK. He got us into the war with Iran. He annoys me.
There are three good reasons why people who thought he was at Walter Reed to offer thoughts and prayers that he would not recover.

(69,929 posts)the recovery of the missing airman, not that following any hospitalization of Trump.
Two different things. Got it now.
Thanks, and good afternoon.

(79,071 posts)The OP and comments are about the rumor that the felon was in Walter Reed. Hence, my post was 100% about that. But if you are asking about the guy who was rescued, of course I'm glad about that. It would be mighty strange if any American thought differently. However, I wish no American member of the military was anywhere near Iran. I do not want them injured, lost, held hostage, or killed in a war for Netanyahu.

(1,734 posts)We all know orange man is going to be gloating about this for days.
Democrats shouldnt let him off the hook though the two airmen shouldnt have been in that situation in the first place and wouldnt have had their lives put in such risk if we werent there in the first place.
Im as thrilled as others theyve been rescued. Now we need all of them to come home.

(1,734 posts)I mean their threads are admittedly kind of entertaining at this point, but Ive been on this board long enough to see how this goes down.
Eventually they drop their cover.
Im amused because Ive called him or her out on their war support enough times, theyve obviously blocked me (same goes with the two or three others).
They dominate a few threads occasionally and they just become weird circle jerks where they high five each other. Kind of a pathetic lot.

(17,834 posts)besides an illness, it will be the Republicans who do it. He's basically destroyed their party and things are looking worse and worse for them this fall. They're going to have to do something, and soon. We're on the verge of a world war, if we're not in one already. It's obvious to everyone with eyes to see that he can't handle the job. This is beyond politics now, this is about survival.

(8,536 posts)social media posts which are, I think dfferent from"news sources." Though, as I recall, there are some disposed to outright dismissal of various left-wing news sources as well, alleging undue sensationalism. exaggeration, and 'click bait headlines' (as if the last weren't a thing).
I even saw one post in which the op apologized for use of the source upon which the post was based. (whaa?)
And while we certainly don't want to knowingly post outright fabrications, I do think wholesale dismissals of our left-wing news sources because of an errant story or so, also do us a disservice - especially in the wake of MSM capitulations to the reich.
