No Kings protests are planned across the Pittsburgh region and around the U.S. on Saturday, the third iteration of the nationwide movement that has rallied against Trump administration policies — and the first since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran last month. Saturday’s demonstrations mark the third wave of protests organized in thousands of locations, with millions of participants, since the first one last June. Another round took place in October.

The upcoming rallies will focus on issues such as opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the war in Iran, attacks on freedom of speech, civil rights and voting rights, economic concerns and a host of others, organizers say. Congressional Republicans have dubbed the protests “Hate America” rallies during past events.

Lt. Gov. Davis: ‘Out here to send a message’
City of Pittsburgh trucks were helping block off either side of the area around the City-County Building. The crowd grew steadily as demonstraors fill the space in front of a stage before the day’s speakers began, with the low murmur giving way to chants of "Hey hey, ho, ho, Trump has got to go."

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor Austin Davis, among the first speakers, asked the crowd whether it was ready to “take our country back.”

“While people are rallying all across the country, we’re out here to send a message,” he said. “We are going to send a message and elect Democrats and people who will stand up for our fundamental rights and our freedoms.”

Other No Kings rallies are taking place in nearby McCandless (North Hills) and in Greensburg, Westmoreland County.
