Remember Kruschev's remark, "we will bury you" ... It actually was a traditional Russian saying, meaning ...
"we will observe your funeral", meaning "we will still be around when you are no more".
It would be nice to have something better. By the time these parasites are gone, I will be past my best days, personally and professionally, and the absolute most I can hope for is a quiet retirement, after an adult life that started out with much promise and optimism. I had to live through Reagan, Bush the Lesser, and Trump, **twice each**, and none of them was worth electing, MUCH LESS RE-electing. For millions of Americans, our lives and careers have been straitjacketed by these increasingly authoritarian, nay, absolutist, trends in the GOP. The Red Hats have loved this BDSM experience; for those of us who love freedom (i.e. liberals, progressives, Dems) and hate arbitrarily imposed restraints (which GOPers can't do without), these have been dismal decades indeed.
Sadly, it didn't help that when we twice succeeded in electing two-term Dem Presidents, both proved to be too accommodating to conservative power structures in Congress and Wall Street. So we're left with little positive change, and none of it all that durable.
