First, we must recognize that the president is unfazed by citizen outrage, the courts, or the media. He responds to one thing: the market. The most potent weapon to resist the administration is a targeted, month-long national economic strike a coordinated campaign that attacks tech companies and firms enabling ICE to inflict maximum damage with minimal impact on consumers. In sum, the shortest path to change without hurting consumers is an economic strike targeted at the companies driving the markets and enabling our president.

That said, I am dropping Apple from future expenditures. And I let them (him) know.
As a former sysadmin and scripter, I always found linux/Solaris more suitable. Great open source apps have to be shoehorned into MacOS (Windows and MS are too putrid to get past my doorstep) with homebrew or ports and updated every time Apple upsets the Apple Cart (yearly).
Cook, you cooked Apple.

(24,275 posts)I just had a lot fewer to cancel, so I can't say that I did.
I am parting ways with Apple.
For the rare hardware store appearance, I have gone to Lowes, for no other reason than the veteran's discount and reserved parking space. But no need lately.
Anything useful or entertaining is a 50 mile drive from here. I just got back from shopping.
I rarely order online, but got a Costco membership to support their inclusion efforts, and to basically never use Amazon.
I am studying AI very carefully. It has some positive benefits for programmers. In my opinion, where it works, it is replacing "boilerplate" code, but I still don't see it helping the average Joe, (*) and I'm working on that. Ai or not, preferably not.
The rest of it is hyper-trash AFAICT.
People need to be able to solve their own problems. Technology can do that, but the overlords prefer that they don't, and rely on their empires.
I'll dig into this and firm up my opinions as well as create solutions that are needed, not just playtoys. By whatever means that work on a home computer, not a mega data center.

(6,619 posts)boycott all those bad players you describe. However, as we are practically shut in elders, several of them play an important part of our lives. Fed Ex, Amazon and UPS bring is goods as we can't shop outside the home. Comcast is part of our homeowner package. So we suck it up hold our nose and hope eventually, they will experience karma.

(24,275 posts)I live in the boondocks, expecting some snow and wind this week, so I stocked up today.
Got a snow shovel at the thrift store.
But these 50 mile drives are a waste of time. I'll see about moving closer to people (all my friends are 50 miles away of more ... this is a mighty small town and 6 people I knew left already) and stores and services. Stocking up is a fright to manage, especially for one.
If I were close by, I'd be glad to help!!!
