What Stage Of Erikson's Is tRump?

Erikson’s theory outlines eight stages of psychosocial development, from infancy to adulthood. At each stage, individuals face a conflict, such as trust vs. mistrust, which shapes their personality. Successfully resolving these conflicts leads to virtues like hope and integrity, while failure can result in guilt or despair.

He constantly needs outside affirmation to feel good about himself. He has no ability to judge whether his actions are good or bad on his own. It’s why he’s so easily controlled by flattery.

Narcissism and dementia are better explanations for what’s wrong with Trump than any developmental analysis.

Reminder: Erickson’s stages are laid out as a series of binary challenges everyone faces as they age. Which side of the struggle that dominates each stage can set the path for the challenges of future stages.

Given his age, comments about not going to heaven, and his desperate flailing attempts to create a superficial “legacy” for himself by building his ballroom, arch and renaming stuff after himself, it’s pretty clear he’s losing the battle to “Assess and make sense of life and meaning of contributions” and is on the brink of succumbing to despair, since he clearly has no integrity.
